Vehicle Description
Sleek, loaded, and well-presented: this numbers-matching 1981
Chevrolet Corvette is a mix of vintage style and good investment
that makes for one of the best all-around affordable classics you
can get your hands on right now.
The silver paint is an upgrade later in life. It has a quality
shine from a good metallic element and extra distinction for a hint
of champagne tone. It makes for a great way to present The
nicely-creased curves of this machine, and so it makes the most out
of the later C3's integral color-matched bumpers. As you get
closer, there's an overall quality that shows this one has been
treated with care and been given good investments. The doors shut
with authority; the glass is clean and clear; the rubber and
weather stripping are pliable; and the headlight doors fit
flush.
The interior continues this car's dignified upgrades. This was born
with a silver interior, which is a cool/classic look, but the
upgrade to black later in life gives this one a bit more timeless
appeal. The black looks especially nice against the paint that
you'll happily take out the T-tops and share this with the world.
These later C3 bucket seats even fold flush with the rear trunk
area so it's also easier to stow the roof panels. Like any good
premium Corvette of this era, it comes loaded with power windows, a
tilt steering column, an electric rear defogger, an upgraded
AM/FM/CD stereo, and provisions for factory air conditioning (it
will need servicing to blow cold again.) The sports steering wheel
gives you a clear view to the large speedometer and tachometer
package in front, and there's a full gauge panel prominently in the
middle of the dash.
The 350 cubic-inch V8 has a terrifically stock presentation,
including cool details like the finned valve covers and polished
air topper. You're looking at the original numbers-matching motor
in a time capsule on an engine bay. So while it's unknown if the
odometer represents the full actual mileage, you can tell this has
seen decades of less use and better care. The V8 inhales deeply
through a four-barrel carburetor, and that gives a fine sports car
sound out of the dual exhaust tips. And the fully independent
sports suspension and four-wheel power disc brakes mean you can
have maximum fun on the roads. But more than just good for
performance, this one can also be a nice car for long trips thanks
to features like power steering and the three-speed automatic
transmission.
This is the classic Corvette with plenty of modern shine and
appeal. It's a nice total package offered at quite a nice price.
