Vehicle Description
1988 Jeep Wagoneer LTD
Recognized as the first Luxury 4-wheel drive sport utility vehicle,
the Jeep Wagoneer Limited continues to be an iconic vehicle for its
luxurious options and features. The Wagoneer model was produced
under numerous manufacturers from 1962-1991. In 1984 the Wagoneer
went to a unibody structure which greatly improved ride and
handling qualities. It looks great and has a heart of dirt.
For consignment, a Jeep Wagoneer Limited that has been in the same
family since new. Back in 2006 it was put away and has recently
come out of its hibernation. New oil and filter, lift gate pistons
and now it's good to go...through anything all while wrapping you
in the lap of luxury.
Exterior
With its 4 doors, wood panels, and factory black exterior paint
which is in very nice condition. The wood accent panels, front
bumpers, and plastic parts are all fade free for this 4 wheeler. A
perfectly straight front grille has some extra running/trail lights
attached to the bumper. Factory pin-striping is also accenting the
black steel and it's in gold. All glass is clean and clear as are
the surrounding trimmings. More wood and black for the large
tailgate, and with the new pistons to help out, raising and
lowering is a cinch. 15-inch polished wheels, showing some clear
coat delamination, are wrapped in good treaded rubber on all
corners. All squared off and buttoned up for this beauty which has
been in hibernation.
Interior
Wonderful mixtures of faux wood, leather panels, vertical ribbed
broadcloth and some carpeting below form the door panels. A control
panel of toggles resides here and works the power windows and
locks. Inside seating is all leather bolsters in tan, along with
more vertical ribbed broadcloth for the inserts. An all original
dash, in tan with black instrument panels inserted inside faux wood
grain within are clean. More convenience options for the seat
adjustments and climate controls, as well as a digital AM/FM radio
and cassette player. Nice clean carpeting covers the floors and is
in a darker tan color. The long headliner is missing its cloth
cover, showing the foam underlayment and the carpeting in the back
storage area is clean as well.
Drivetrain
Seen under the hood an original engine bay with some "patina." A
4.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine is present. It is fed with EFI,
and on the back is a 4-speed automatic, throwing power to a 3.55
geared axle.
Undercarriage
Overall nicely preserved with slight surface rust on some bolts and
the leaf springs. All else is very sound with no rust to be seen.
Suspension is a coil sprung with trailing arms in front, and leaf
springs for the back. Power disc brakes are upfront and power drums
for the back. Both axle gearboxes are dry, and no leaks are
seen.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and it runs great. We did not get to see if it
will climb every mountain, but I can tell you that based on our
test track drive, it should do so with ease. All was functioning
well, save for the front fog lights which I could not get to come
on.
A low mileage example which has been at rest since 2006, but in a
cozy garage. On family owned since new and now this well-preserved
vehicle is ready for some action. Grab your tent and kayak and get
a little mud on the tires.
