Here's a bold 1971 Plymouth Road Runner with a big 440 V8 that adds
plenty of growls to go with your Beep! Beep! machine. So when
you're looking for serious Mopar muscle with distinctive style,
read on...
The bold and factory-correct Bahama Yellow/Butterscotch is from the
legendary High Impact color palette. It's the perfect
attention-grabber to showcase all the great details on this coupe.
The Road Runner was given its new fuselage styling in '71, which
hid the front end behind a chrome bumper surround. The nose shields
the headlights to make them look extra mean. So pulling up behind
lesser cars at a stoplight definitely makes for a sight in their
rearview mirrors. The black on the grille looks good against the
yellow, and the same goes for the performance hood with hash
stripes. The full presentation is believed to be highly original,
and the good fit of the panels shows proper care. And this really
does have great Mopar details, from the Rallye wheels to the Road
Runner cartoon on the rear.
It's always nice when the exterior accents are a preview for the
interior. Plus, there's nothing better on a true muscle machine
than a deep, dark black. Factory wood paneling nicely breaks up
this darkness with a period-correct premium appearance. It has a
very clean and complete look. We particularly like how this one
really loves to keep a very classic style, and so you'll enjoy even
the little details, right down to the working dome light and AM/FM
radio. It's also made to be a great driver's environment with
high-back front bucket seats, a center console in-between, the
classic three-spoke steering wheel, and full gauge package with
large speedo and tach.
The 440 callouts on the hood were not lying. This is a monster 440
cubic-inch motor is an upgrade using an era-correct block. The bold
orange motor and Super Commando air grabber give you the right
classic look. Plus, this has the right updated components you want,
like an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Accel coil, and an Optima
battery. There's even a newer dual exhaust to give you a terrific
V8 tune. The full driving experience feels solid with a newer
Borgeson power steering box, new front sway bar, power brakes,
front discs, a stout three-speed transmission, and a rear end built
with comfortable highway gears.
This is a very bold coupe with the best vintage details. So you
know you want to get your hands on this Road Runner. Call
