Vehicle Description
1954 Packard Convertible. This convertible was purchased in July
1968 from Al Berger in Lohrville, Iowa and it still runs and
drives, but may need brakes at the time of the auction. This was
the final year for the Packard Series 5479 convertible as the
manufacturer struggled with sales and merged with Studebaker on
October 1, 1954, with headquarters in Detroit. This car is one of
just 863 built that year. The company built a new engine plant in
Utica, New York to manufacture a new 359ci straight eight engine
which powers this convertible but just a few short months later
introduced a brand-new V-8 engine which didn't make it into the '54
lineup.
