For Sale at Auction: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain in Billings, Montana

Vehicle Description

1951 Pontiac Chieftain Custom Street Rod

VIN: K8US8919

What started out as a 100% original and complete 1951 Pontiac Chieftain in need of chassis and frame work, ended up as a striking street rod worthy of not only recognition but accolades as well!

Realizing the great body lines and classic and imposing presence the 51 Pontiac possesses, the builders were determined to respect the Chieftain.  They achieved this by expertly measuring and fitting this beautiful body on a 1991 Chevy S10 Extended Cab Frame.  The fit was perfect with no additions or deletions to the frame required.  A Bell Tech 3" drop was installed and four wheel disc brakes were fitted.

The Drive-train is as impressive as the rest of the car!

Engine:  Under the hood is a 410 Chevy Stroker V8 producing 500HP. This engine was professionally built by a Pro Truck II racing team, with their 2009 truck and this motor winning the World Tour Championship.  Please note the requirement for racing fuel only in this car!  Ignition is upgraded to MSD with a 7000 RPM limiter.  An aluminum radiator and electric fans provide the cooling

Transmission:  The engine is mated to a Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission with a stall converter and free-wheel feature.  The transmission features external cooling fans.

Rear End:  The rear end is a Mosser 9" floater with 4:11 gears, narrowed, and the body has been tubbed to accommodate the tires.

Braking for this impressive ride features a front to rear split brakes with safety pedal.  Can you say..."Drift It!"  Please note that the wheels are custom to accommodate the Cooper Cobra Tires AND to receive the original Chieftain Hubcaps.

The interior features later model front bucket seats and bench rear seat as well as a custom console.  The dash is all Pontiac and even retains the clock!  A roll cage was installed, the rear end was tubbed, but the car remains street legal!

The all original body retains it's chrome and stainless trim for the classic 1950's look Detroit was known for.  Original paint present itself with it's own Patina custom look.  Chief Pontiac proudly rides on the hood and is reported to light up as it should!

There you have it!  A solid, complete Montana car that says pure Chieftain but provides total driving thrill on the road.
