This 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible gives you a cool/coordinated
style and drop-top cruiser appeal. Plus, when you find a classic
with enhanced V8 power and the control of a five-speed, then you
know you've found something special.
The color on this one reminds us of 1967's Nightmist Blue, but it
really is an upgrade later in life. This car has been under the
same owner for about 30 years, and it was given a quality
restoration spanning 2008 to 2012. That includes the paint in 2010.
Today, it has the right look of a good depth that looks nice in the
sunshine. It's perfect for carefree driving today and likely it's
just a professional detail away from the kind of finish that will
look ready for the car show. We like the overall quality that you
can see in the straightness of the sheet metal and good gaps. Plus,
there was a nice focus on sporty style. You have plenty of
Shelby-like style with the twin scoops in the hood, integrated rear
spoiler, and triple rocker stripe that goes so well with the white
roof. And the 17-inch alloys add extra shine and an aggressive
stance.
While we like the style of the roof, with the flip of a switch, it
powers down to reveal an even more impressive color combo. After
all, the two-tone blue on the inside harmonizes with the dark blue
on the exterior to look like what you'd get on a European car. The
carpeting, door panels, dash, and upholstery all look good from a
later restoration. They also made sure to add comfort with the
headrest, cup holders, and armrest center console. There are
classic cruiser details, like the wood-rimmed steering wheel and
Moon barefoot gas pedal. While the shifter also has a Moon topper,
it really hides a much more modern shift pattern.
Under the hood is a well-built small block. It looks to be a 302
cubic-inch V8, and it has been enhanced with Edelbrock E-Street
aluminum heads, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock RPM
intake, MSD ignition, and a newer dual exhaust. It fires up readily
with a nice V8 tune, and the upgrade to the Borg-Warner five-speed
manual transmission means you get to take full advantage of this
upgraded power. This also has the right mix of a true classic that
lets you feel the road and better driving features like power
steering and modern sport tires.
This is the distinct drop-top classic that has added Shelby style
and the power to back it up. So it makes for a terrific and unique
pony car cruiser. Call now!
