For Sale: 1937 Cadillac Series 75 in Phoenix, Arizona

Vehicle Description

SALE PENDING!! This is a beautiful 1937 Cadillac Series 75 V8 Convertible Sedan with Division that has an incredible provenance and has been restored only as-needed. While retaining many original features, it has been a proven award winner and tour car. With a well documented ownership that began with the heiress of the founder of the Crane Co. plumbing company, extensive service, and detailed restoration history, the pride of ownership is apparent from new. This Cadillac was purchased new on November 5th, 1936 at Stuyvesant Cadillac in Kingston, NY by Mrs. Emily Crane Chadbourne, daughter of Crane Co. founder Richard T. Crane. Mrs. Chadbourne owned the car until her passing in 1966 when the car was left to her nephew and eventually to his son, whom the current owner purchased it from in 1991. During the current ownership, this Cadillac has undergone a refreshening to exacting standards, including a bare metal respray of the original Thessalon Green paint and a correct replacement of the tan canvas convertible top in 2018. To maintain the Cadillac as a fantastic tourer, the current owner also commissioned a rebuild of the engine, transmission, differential, fuel tank and lines, brakes and lines, radiator and more. The exterior of this Cadillac was refinished in its original Thessalon Green livery in 2011 and still appears showroom new. The chrome and brightwork are in excellent condition with only a few minor imperfections. The tan Haartz cloth convertible top was replaced three years ago along with the inner lining and a replating of the convertible top frame. It is still in concours condition today. The dual side mounts look great and give the Cadillac a more commanding presence. The chrome wheel covers are in fine shape and are wrapped with Firestone wide white wall bias ply tires. With the convertible top down, the Cadillac looks more like a sporty phaeton than a convertible sedan. The beautiful green leather interior is largely original with only a reupholstering of the front seat and new carpet during its 85 year history. The door panels look terrific, save for some wear marks near the footwell and from the utilization of the window cranks. The front seats are comfortable and show little signs of wear. The rear seat shows well when considering the age and still has a soft and supple cushion. The two family owned history and the original interior are examples that this Cadillac has been incredibly well loved and cared for since new. The wood trim looks very nice and really reveals the quality and beauty that Cadillac is known for. The dash and instrumentation are clear and clean. The division operates with a near effortless twist of the handle. Adorning the area around the division window handle are a cigar lighter and a rare Fleetwood clock. The interior accent lighting is functional and bright. Mechanically, this Cadillac is ready for the show field and for long distance touring. The 346 cubic inch V8 offered 135 horsepower when new and provides ample power. The floor mounted three speed manual transmission moves through the gears well and offers a confidence inspiring driving experience. The engine compartment is finely detailed and the undercarriage is clean. In addition to the numerous tours and parades in its history, this Cadillac holds a Senior Badge from the Cadillac LaSalle Club after being awarded First Place at a Grand National Meet in 1991. The odometer reads 93,000 miles, 13,000 of which were added by the current owner. Included in the sale is a lap robe, original radiator shutters, full set of factory splash pans, screw jack with handle and lug wrench, tools with pouch, two gallons of Evans Coolant, spare tire cover clamps, and a box containing a 1937 Cadillac Owner's Manual, historical documentation, restoration documentation, and communications.
