This 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code is a beautifully restored
high-performance stocker that is loaded with options. 1957 was a
banner year for the American car manufacturers, including Ford, who
continued pushing horsepower output on their passenger car engine
offerings. For Ford's Thunderbird line, buyers could order their
Thunderbirds with 2 barrel carburetors with the smaller engines
(223, 272, and 292). However, those looking for a bit more
performance could order a 312 with a 4 barrel and those looking for
even more performance could order an E-Bird with a 312 and dual 4
barrel carburetors or an F-Bird with a supercharged 312 V8. As many
Thunderbird collectors know, only 1,499 of the E-Code Thunderbirds
were produced in '57. 1957 also was the first major redesign for
the Thunderbird and was the last year of the "Baby Birds." The new
57 T-Bird trunks were elongated to house a spare tire and the rear
quarters now featured sleek new tail fins. This E-Bird comes to us
from Florida where it spent the last 10+ years. This particular
Thunderbird is an E-Code. meaning that it features a 312 Cubic Inch
V8 with dual 4 barrel carburetors. An automatic transmission is
mated up to the powerful 312, ensuring that anybody can drive this
Baby Bird. This '57 T-Bird is a well-optioned car as well. Power
brakes makes bringing this E-Bird to a stop much easier and at the
time were touted by Ford as "so sensitive, you could put a light
bulb between your foot and the brake pedal an bring the car to a
full stop without breaking the glass." With Power Steering, getting
in and out of tight spaces was also made much easier; so much so
that in 1957 Ford said that it "cut effort by 75 percent." The
exterior has been beautifully re-painted in basecoat/clearcoat in
its original color, Gunmetal Grey. This E-Bird also comes with a
white Porthole Hard Top that is in wonderful condition. The
Colonial White bench seat interior on this 57 Thunderbird provides
a nice contrast to the Gunmetal exterior and is correct for the
car. The bench seat is also a 4 way adjustable power seat which was
a rare option in 1957. The door panels, steering wheel, carpet and
dash all have an excellent look and appear stock. The dash is
equipped with a 140 MPH speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge,
temperature gauge, and clock, as well as a Town and Country Radio.
Whether you're looking for your very first baby bird or you're
looking to add a rare E-Bird to your collection, this 1957 Ford
Thunderbird E-Code would be an excellent choice. Give us a call
