This 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Restomod is all about sleek
speed. You have modern fuel-injected LS3 power, an overdrive
transmission, and a body freshly painted as dark as midnight. But
even with all this modern flair, it still never loses that vintage
T-top cool coupe feeling you love so much.
The trim tag tells us this was born a black T/A, but as a true
restomod there have been modern investments everywhere... including
the paint. This is a fresh application of the beautiful black, and
so the sunlight shows off a smooth shine that makes this coupe look
like it has been cut from volcanic glass. This has the best classic
Trans Am body details, like the factory body kit, the turbo hood,
fender vent, and full-width rear spoiler. There are even
well-integrated upgrades, like the clear headlights. Plus, a black
T/A needs a golden trim package. This is new with the paint,
including the iconic hood bird. But we really know your favorite
golden piece is the set of 20-inch DUB alloys.
The black and gold theme continues inside with the all-black
interior accented by the gold machine-turned dash panel that's a
hallmark of these Trans Ams. The whole setup is clean, comfortable,
and absolutely cool. So you'll love taking the T-tops out and
sharing them with the world. You get upgraded bucket seats with
comfy cloth inserts, an armrest center console, and the classic T/A
sports steering wheel mounted on a tilt column. This gives you a
clear view to the upgraded gauges with large speedo and tach. They
cleanly installed modern upgrades, like provisions for R134a air
conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) There's
an AM/FM/CD stereo integrated into the dash with a touchscreen
receiver and connection for your iPod. This connects to the full
custom speaker system in the trunk.
Under the hood is the best upgrade of them all. This is a
fuel-injected 6.2-liter LS3 performance crate motor. It's the
powerhouse for some of the best performance GM cars of the latest
generation, and so it's terrific to have this professional
installation in the engine bay today. The motor fires up readily as
a modern FI powerplant should. And the long tube headers add power
and growl to the dual exhaust, so this one always announces it's
something special. The 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission is a
stout unit built to handle this motor's power, and at the same
time, it provides silky-smooth shifts all the way into overdrive.
Plus, you have power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, a
Hotchkis rear sway bar, and the grip of modern performance tires
that all give you confidence on the road.
This one upgrades all the cool style you love about a classic T/A
and there's a ton of added power, too. So you know you need to get
your hands on this one right now.
