Vehicle Description
1947 Oldsmobile Series 66 Convertible. Purchased on September 30,
1965 from a young man who was drafted into military service. He
told the Hemkens he wanted to see the car preserved and it has
been. The car is completely original except for one re-paint. The
engine does run and the car could be drivable. It has that look
that would cause heads to turn on a drive through town! The car has
a 238ci six-cylinder engine featuring a Hydra-Matic transmission.
This transmission was developed by GM during World War II for army
tanks and other combat vehicles needing reliability and
performance. Standard features for the Oldsmobile were safety
glass, spare wheel and tire, dual horns, vacuum booster pump and
cigarette lighter. A special feature of the engine is the down
draft carburetor and an automatic choke and fast idle system.
