Vehicle Description
As the Trim Tag indicates, this Camaro is an X33 car built in
Norwood, OH, the first week May 1969. Originally Dover White with a
standard black interior. Restored in Tuxedo Black with white Rally
stripes, houndstooth seating and black vinyl roof with bright metal
outline moldings. Equipped with RS package, JL8 rear disc brakes,
aluminum Cross-Ram intake with dual Holley 4-barrel carbs and
accurately reproduced chambered pipe exhaust. Correct factory
DZ-code 302/209hp engine featured domed aluminum pistons,11.0:1
compression ratio, forged steel crankshaft, 2.02-inch intake and
1.60-inch exhaust valves. This car features JL8 rear disc brakes
(with correct tapered axle housing), 11-3/4-inch front and rear
disc brakes (standard with JL8 package), Cross-Ram aluminum intake
manifold (casting #3941130 with Winters snowflake) with dual Holley
4150, 600-cfm 4-barrel carburetor (#3957859, list #4295), factory
finned-aluminum valve covers (#3932418, non-dripper, smooth dull
finish) and oil dipstick (#3951576 natural finish). Fiberglass
reproduction of ZL2-style special ducted hood, M21 close-ratio
4-speed manual transmission (dated 9D24), aluminum bellhousing
(#3858403 with Winters snowflake), Hurst shifter, tail shaft
extension (#3857584), 12-bolt rear end (casting #3894860, dated D18
9), dual-piston rear brake calipers (#5452284 and #5452281),
QY-stamped axle tube (4.10:1 gears, dated 0422); (G80)
posi-traction, front brake calipers (#5465952 and #5488588), master
cylinder (#5468309, US-stamped, D2 casting, dated 85 = March 26),
alternator (#1100837 37A dated 9B21), distributor (#1111480 dated
9D7), voltage regulator (515), brake booster (9204 dated 207), and
starter (#1108367 dated 9C20); equipped with chambered pipe exhaust
system and Z22 Rally Sport appearance option featuring black grille
with concealed headlights and rear backup lights. Z/28 equipment
includes front/rear spoilers, F41 special front/rear suspension
with 11/16-inch front anti-roll bar and HD shocks, HD Harrison
radiator (with correct UH, IH, CB stamping), quick-ratio steering;
correct Y/H-stamped 15x7 Rally wheels with Goodyear E70-15 RWL
wide-tread GT tires, correct in-dash tachometer (8k rpm/6k rpm
redline) and AM radio with telescoping oval antenna. The car was
frame-off-restored to original factory specs in 2005 by Stan's
Restoration and refreshed by Jen Jacs in 2011. The Holley
carburetors were built by Dan DaVinci, and the ignition upgraded
with a Pertronix electronic ignition and Magnecore 7mm ignition
wires. This is a spectacular example, formerly included in the
Dennis Higginbotham Collection and more recently the Don Davis
Collection. No original documentation accompanies the car.
