This 1962 Volkswagen Microbus was the recipient of a five-year
nut-and-bolt restoration. It has the authenticity of the original
23-window bus combined with some power, handling and braking
enhancements. A new front end was installed utilizing Porsche 944
Turbo 4-piston brakes and polished wheels. The bus is powered by a
2275cc engine mated to a custom-built Rancho 4-speed manual
transmission. Additional updates include an MSD ignition, 12-volt
electrical system, external oil cooler, new wiring harness, Optima
battery and an A1 header with custom stainless exhaust. The
restoration included painting the bus to its original color
combination of turquoise exterior with a white roof and Como Green
interior. All interior panels were coated in Dynamat, all seat
frames were restored, and a new headliner, seat covers, door panels
and side panels were installed along with a new Stayfast folding
sunroof. All window and door seals were replaced, and all interior
and exterior trim pieces were replaced or repolished. A
period-style cargo rack tops the bus for an authentic look, and a
custom car cover is included. Included with the sale is
documentation from Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen in Germany
verifying the vehicle's originality and build information.
