Vehicle Description
2004 Chevrolet Corvette ZO6
Compared to its predecessor, the C5 Corvette that hit dealers for
1997 featured a more rigid hydroformed box frame and transmission
now mounted at the rear helping achieve 50/50 front-and-rear weight
distribution. By 1999, Chevy offered the Vette as a convertible,
targa top and fixed-roof coupe. Motivating base versions of the
1997 Corvette was a 5.7-liter V8 producing 345 horsepower that
worked with either a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic
transmissions. Power inched up slightly to 350 in 2001. On the tech
front, an optional head-up display was made available as an option
in 2000.
The last year for this hidden headlight design, this 04 'Vette C5
Z06 Commemorative Edition. This car has an LS1 V8, EFI, cast Z06
alloy wheels and a carbon fiber hood. All these editions as is the
example were painted LeMans Blue and have a shale leather interior.
This car brags about a mere 1,554 Actual Miles!
Exterior
Aerodynamics and handling was the key to this generation, and it
shows up in commemorative LeMans Blue and it retains a mirror-like
finish. Neoprene bumpers form the low sleek front end and move
upward through the hidden headlight covers and small bumped up
fiberglass hood. This hood has silver stripes along with red edging
running through it. On either side is the ubiquitous "Corvette
Cove" beginning on the front quarter just aft of the wheel wells
and continuing throughout the sleek doors with their Italian design
rear view body matching mirrors. Black window surrounding trimmings
go well with the blue, and a blue top has the continuation of the
stripes as they head for the trunk deck. On the rear we're goin'
oval with oval taillights and 4 oval centered exhaust tips. A shout
out to the red brake calipers we can see through the alloy
wheels.
Interior
Heavy usage of the french curve for this sculpted interior that
ergonomically grabs you and wraps you in supple ebony colored
leather. Buckets are high back and have plenty of support on the
bolsters and offer power adjustment. More curvaceous curves for the
molded console and dash with its glowing number and lettered gauges
under the driver's curved dash top. It features a heads-up display.
An AM/FM/CD Delco with digital readout and Bose speakers is noted
as well as dual climate controls for each passenger. Black
carpeting floods the floors and rear storage area and appears like
now all around. Just perfectly preserved and all beautifully
designed.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a very clean engine bay is the LS1 5.7 Liter
power plant showing as a V8. It is fed by EFI and has a T56 6-speed
manual transmission. On back to help spin the tires and get
respectable gas mileage is a 3.42 limited slip rear axle.
Undercarriage
All clean and lots o' cast aluminum parts for weight loss this car
was built to handle. Hold your breath because the suspension is
coming right up...Independent SLA forged aluminum upper and lower
control arms and steering knuckle, transverse mono leaf springs,
and a steel stabilizer bar and spindle offset for the front, and
for the rear, independent 5 link design with toe and camber
adjustment, cast aluminum upper and lower control arms and knuckle,
transverse mono leaf springs, steel tie rods and stabilizer bar and
tubular U-jointed metal matrix composite driveshaft...WHEW!! Also,
of note 4-wheel power disc brakes can bring you to a screeching
halt. These commemorative Z06 cars had their proto-types tested at
the Nurembergring and as a result have revised damping for the
Sachs gas pressure shocks, stiffer bushings for the upper control
arms and rear anti roll bar.
Drive-Ability
Our car for this consignment fired right up and worked immediately
to get to the test track. Here it handled like it was on rails, was
very quiet on the road noise front, and gave us a comfortable ride
with all working functions for the interior conveniences. These Z06
optioned warships have plenty of power along with great handling
capabilities, hold tight!
An extra clean all working and smooth aero design, rail car with
some beautiful LeMans Blue paint, and Shale interior in full
leather. Ergonomically off the charts when it comes to comfort and
driveability, and low mileage to boot. All showroom condition.
Lovely Z06 way of commemorating something!
