The Corvair is a compact car manufactured by Chevrolet from 1960 – 1969. To date it is still the only American designed, mass produced, passenger car with a rear-mounted, air-cooled engine. Chevrolet committed itself to the sporty image they had created by offering a high performance turbocharged Spyder in the spring of 1962. Available in both a sport coupe and a convertible the Spyder boasted a respectful 150 hp. This made the Corvair the 2nd production automobile offered with a turbocharger as a factory option. Other options include the 4 speed manual transmission, positraction rear axle, soft-ray tinted glass, a cushioned instrument panel and whitewall tires. This particular example is believed to be a 4 owner car with 110,045 original miles that was acquired by the current owner in 2013. It has since been gone through multiple times by a very thorough mechanic. It was most recently serviced within the last 100 miles at which time all fluids and filters were changed and it was completely tuned up. It was repainted in its original color of Cardinal Red by the previous owner and it still shows incredibly well. The Deluxe Black interior is in excellent condition and has been upgraded with a Bluetooth stereo and new speakers. Everything works as it should, all of the wear items are in new condition and this car is a blast to drive.
