Vehicle Description
This 1986 Camaro IROC-Z received a complete restoration and has
been enhanced with new technology throughout. The fresh restoration
has 160 miles since its start and 10 shakedown miles since full
completion. The entire drivetrain has been upgraded and the
original, power-starved 305ci 190hp engine has been upgraded to a
more powerful and modern GM 7.0-liter LS7 electronically
fuel-injected crate engine producing 505hp paired to an Extreme
Automatics custom 4L80E automatic transmission with Gear Vendors
overdrive controlled by a PCS TCM2800 control module. This set up
is programmed to operate as a 6-speed automatic transmission. It
has a QA1 carbon-fiber driveshaft turning a Ford 8.8-inch rear end
equipped with an Auburn Gear posi-traction unit. All steering
(which is still stock) and suspension parts have been replaced,
except the gearbox. Equipped with an upgraded suspension including
welded subframe connectors and adjustable coilovers. The stock
intake was modified to increase airflow. The 3.5-inch exhaust is
black ceramic-coated stainless steel with 2-inch headers and 3-inch
Y-pipe, exiting through a Varex XForce stainless-steel muffler
configurable for variable volume, and is equipped with a Champion
Cooling Dual Pass LS Conversion radiator. Braking is handled by
power-assisted Baer 6-piston calipers clamping on 14-inch drilled
and slotted rotors. The IROC's more aggressive appearance comes
from using Stinger fiberglass wide-body panels that include the
hood, front fenders, rear quarters, and front and rear bumpers. The
hood has been further modified to incorporate functional cooling
louvers. Beautifully finished in its original red color with satin
black ground effects, shark-fin, mirrors, louvers, gas filler cap
and wing. This IROC-Z rides on 20-inch Cray wheels wrapped in
Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires; 335s out back with 265s up front,
all with TPMS sensors displaying tire pressures on the DVD screen.
The interior has been restored using its stock colors and
materials, also featuring the optional dimming rearview mirror and
roof console. Other features include power locks with keyless
entry, windows, rear hatch release and side mirrors. An upgraded
stereo system includes a Jensen unit with GPS/navigation, DVD,
SiriusXM, Bluetooth and a backup camera with Pioneer speakers. The
instrument cluster has been upgraded with a Dakota Digital VHX
unit, and all lighting inside and out has been updated with LEDs.
The headlights are Vision X Vortex LEDs with halos on the outside
units serving as daytime running lights, while the inside halos are
used for turn-signal lights. Over $80,000 in new parts. All
operator's manuals, a repair manual and installation instructions,
including the original owner's manual, are included.
