Vehicle Description
This 1971 Chevrolet C10 Restomod is exactly the kind of truck you
would build for yourself if you wanted to drive it all the time and
bask in non-stop attention. With several smart modifications
implemented for easy, modern-day cruising, a killer stance, and a
sleek black-on-red paint job that lets the original styling speak
for itself. This is a no-excuses truck in every way.
Nicely finished in attractive, attention-grabbing black-on-red
livery, this pickup looks like it's dressed up for a night out on
the town, not a set of coveralls for work. The classic shape of the
early C10 is undeniably attractive, but when it's wrapped in a
glossy modern paint, it's downright arresting. The contrast between
the black and red was a perfect choice for the squared-off look of
the Action Line pickup, and even though it's a bit of an older
paint job that's showing some imperfections, it's a fine
driver-quality rig nonetheless. Ideal for the local cruise night,
it's still going to turn heads everywhere it goes. The factory trim
was removed, allowing for the demarcation between the black-and-red
paint do all the talking, and a silver pinstripe between the two
colors really help them both pop. The black finish on the hood and
grille surround give the face a sinister look, matched by the
Bowtie emblem inside the egg crate grille, although the front
bumper was left chrome to add a little flash to the presentation.
The smoothed tailgate and roll pan out back are a custom look that
works better on an Action Line C10 than pretty much anywhere else,
and the black tonneau cover over the short bed is a slick addition
that's also very practical.
The upscale, two-tone theme continues in the cab where there's a
combination of both modern and original components. A comfortable
bench seat wrapped in pleated black vinyl anchors the interior,
accented with a slash of red in the seatback and a set of
cupholders built in the seat bottom, while the plush black carpets
in the floors and Western-scroll style door panels at the flanks
add a touch of sophistication inside. The black-and-red dash
continues the color theme, with a black dash pad up top and red
paint on the original steel, and the newer bezel ahead of the
driver houses a full set of digital gauges that keep a closer eye
on the modern motor under the hood. A thick-rimmed steering wheel
is perfect for white-knuckle battles out on the back roads, and
it's mounted atop a tilt column to provide more room for the driver
at the helm. Options include cold A/C with R134 modern hardware,
LED ambient lighting under the dash, a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/AUX that
manages the aftermarket speakers in the kick panels, and shoulder
seatbelts. Everything looks relatively fresh inside, and with all
those creature comforts the cab is definitely a comfortable place
in which to spend some time.
Under the hood is where the real party begins, starting with the
fuel injected Vortec 5.3 liter V8, that fits neatly in the early
Chevy's bright-red engine bay. Professionally installed and looking
like it always belonged, the motor is highlighted by a black Vortec
engine cover, a shiny aluminum tube and cone-filter for the
cold-air intake system, and the neatly assorted plug wires at the
flanks of the block. Block-hugging headers help the engine breathe
easy, and with an aluminum radiator up front you never have to
worry about this small block overheating. Power steering and power
front disc brakes are included, and with fuel injection and modern
electronics, it starts instantly, idles smoothly, and has an
awesome torque curve that makes it a blast to drive. Backed by a
700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and sturdy
12-bolt rear end, it can handle the rigors of the modern road and
highway speeds. A custom dual exhaust system with Magnaflow
mufflers gives the Vortec V8 a unique voice, and the beefed-up
suspension provides that killer ride height and sets that slammed
stance we all love. Flashy 20-inch US Mag wheels look slick and
totally stuff the wheelwells with fat 245/45/20 front and 315/35/20
rear Pirelli radials.
