Vehicle Description
If you're a classic car enthusiast you know how much the
pro-touring movement has enhanced muscle car ownership. By
completely rethinking every aspect of performance and appearance,
highly skilled builders transform Motown's biggest hits into
timeless paragons that are new car comfortable, track time fast and
will turn twice as many heads as anything else at the meet. That's
exactly what happened with this exceptional Ford Mustang. Born from
decades of vintage appeal and broad aftermarket support, this
dreamy drop-top is a virtual tour de force of style and
performance. Wrapping polished street rod allure around supple
leather surfaces, choice Art Morrison bones and a hot Coyote mod
motor, this is the kind of killer build that doesn't need a show,
because it IS the show! Looking for some one-of-a-kind muscle that
puts a custom twist on an old school favorite? Take a look at your
next classic!
MANY HOURS AND MANY MORE DOLLARS
A six-figure, ground-up restoration that was completed by
Summerville, South Carolina's CMX Customs by Vinnie, this
thoroughly massaged Mustang stacks solid sheetmetal behind
aggressive detailing that walks a fine line between polished street
rod and classic muscle car. Instead of donning traditional,
non-metallic paint, the car features rich House Of Kolor Shimrin
Kandy Root Beer two-stage that's incredibly dynamic. In what
appears to be a sly attempt to juice sunglass sales, that smooth,
world class pigment was professionally buffed to a mirror-like
shine. And it all adds up to one head-turning thoroughbred that's
ready to strain necks and poised to drop jaws!
There's no question the first-generation Mustang is one of the
best-looking classics of all time. And when a skilled builder adds
a few custom touches, it makes the car that much better! At the
front of this Ford, a hand-fabricated valance hangs an integrated
splitter beneath modern headlights, billet grilles and retro,
stainless-trimmed marker lamps. Opposite those lamps, a shaved hood
floats a custom, Shelby-style scoop in front of capped wipers and
stainless-trimmed glass. That glass, tucked snug under high quality
Haartz cloth, gets reflected in polished, bullet-style mirrors that
feature trick LED turn indicators. Beneath those mirrors, custom
rockers trace shaved fenders, flush Kindig It door pulls and custom
quarters that have been widened a total of four inches. And at the
back of those quarters, another custom valance threads polished
exhaust beneath a flush fuel filler, trick taillights and a
discreet camera.
SHOW PONY WITH A COYOTE HEART
Hoist this coupe's custom hood and you'll find five liters of Ford
Performance Coyote motor that howls to an easy 460 horsepower. At
the top of that aluminum mill, an 80mm throttle body feeds a tuned
composite intake. Those precision Ford components juice high-flow
aluminum heads, which spin a quartet of smooth cams above lined
cylinder bores. Factory coils fire hot, Ford-spec plug wires. A
forged crank, sintered Boss 302 connecting rods and hypereutectic
pistons provide stout 12 to 1 compression. Twin Independent
Variable Cam Timing teams with both direct and port fuel injection
to maximize efficiency. Speaking of breathing, that smooth
valvetrain funnels spent gases through coated headers. There's a
beefy aluminum radiator that's slid in front of big puller fan. A
polished March accessory drive spins a polished alternator opposite
a polished AC compressor. And, as you likely deduced from our
high-resolution photos, the fresh mill rolls in a custom Shimrin
Kandy Root Beer frame that's finished with niceties like polished
caps, a polished breather, polished Eddie Motorsports hood supports
and custom cam covers.
UPGRADES, UPGRADES AND MORE UPGRADES
Bottom-side, predictable mini tubs integrate nicely into solid,
Satin Black floors. Behind the car's smooth mill, a tough Science
Friction Street Slayer clutch kicks a trusty Tremec 6-speed, which
spins a quality Strange 9-inch. That drivetrain rides a precise Art
Morrison chassis, which cages adjustable QA-1 coil-overs in two
rounds of tubular control arms. Tight turns twirls through power
rack-and-pinion steering. Beefy Baer calipers cinch 11-inch drilled
and slotted rotors in front of 9-inch drilled and slotted rotors.
Large-diameter exhaust hangs electronic cutouts in front of throaty
Magnaflow mufflers. Ample fuel comes courtesy of a high-flow Walbro
fuel pump, which drains a custom Rick's tank. And power meets the
pavement through handsome Schott Venoms, which spin big 225/40ZR18
Pirelli P Zeros in front of massive 335/30ZR20 Pirelli P Zeros.
A COCOON OF CUSTOM STYLE
Swing this Ford's slicked doors and you'll find a classy custom
cockpit that wraps unique show car style around a choice
combination of technology and leather. Front and center, short
bucket seats trace a custom, full-length console that's complete
with a short shifter, pushbutton ignition and controls for Vintage
Air conditioning. A custom, wood-trimmed dash hangs clean Dakota
Digital VHX telemetry above crisp Pioneer touchscreen audio. A full
suite of power windows backs a full array of custom side panels,
which work well with slick Daytona Weave carpet that's stretched
tight under piped mats and billet foot pedals. The driver carves
curves through a color-keyed Billet Specialties Formula wheel,
which laps a tilting Ididit column. And passengers store essentials
in a custom-upholstered trunk that's finished with stylish
Ringbrothers supports.
Absolutely NO expense was spared on this killer Mustang! Built to
turn heads and rule the show, this Ford combines world class
performance hardware with timeless street rod style to create a
take-no-prisoners pro-tourer. Looking for some one-of-a-kind muscle
that explores the full potential of the collector car hobby?
Congratulations, you've found your next classic!
