As a result, many upgrades to this car are extremely unique and only configured in a way that could only be purchased from Japan. Another quick and fun fact about AMG Japan, they actually produced a few tuned models for Japan manufacturer Mitsubishi, such as the Galant AMG Type 2 in 1989! AMG only built the Mercedes 400E variant for the Japanese Market and only with left-hand drive. They produced 77 W124 400E?s in S1, S2 and S3 variants. Out of the 77 built, only 16 of them where Series III 400E?s with a engine producing well over 300HP. This 400E AMG Stage III sedan specs: Left-hand drive only AMG engine 4.2 V8 312 BHP AMG high lift cams and head porting AMG sport suspension (original AMG shocks and springs still on car) AMG exhaust system (same exhaust as JDM E60?s) AMG BBS AERO II RT multi-piece wheels AMG signed ashtray AMG dash cluster in kilometers AMG shift knob AMG ID badges and VIN plate AMG bodykit AMG bolt on fender flares (extremely rare, unique AMG of Japan part only) Sportline heated and power front leather seats Sportline steering wheel Headlight wipers This example was imported to the United States from Tokyo Japan in 2019. Dressed in Black Pearl Metallic, the paint and trim are in overall excellent order. The body is straight and solid and the doors close with the expected bank vault-like solidity. The engine bay is very tidy, as is the cargo area and the body-colored wraparound bumpers. The undercarriage is extremely tidy that still has a like new appearance, the car still retains its original AMG suspension that is still firm and tight. This car has Mercedes-Benz?s technically elegant Monowiper system, which covered 86 percent of the windshield. This substantial coverage was achieved by designing it to extend outward toward the corners of the windshield in the course of its travel across the glass. A cam-type device in the hub moved the arm away from the pivot twice, retracting it in-between so the wiper would not overextend the top of the windshield. This Benz rides on Bridgestone Potenza radials, size 225/45R17 at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a genuine and correct AMG BBS Aero II RT multi-piece wheel. The tires and wheels are all in excellent condition. Under the hood is an AMG-built 4.2L four-valve, DOHC V-8 (code M119.975) with variable valve timing on the intake manifold with AMG camshafts that is producing over 300HP. Backing the motor is a four-speed automatic transmission (4G-TRONIC) and an AMG sport differential. Driver convenience features are lengthy ? automatic climate control (code 581), sunroof (code 412), cruise control, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors, power steering column, rear reading lights and power-folding rear seat headrests. The car is replete with more AMG-designed equipment ? E60 exhaust system, sport (lower and firmer than stock) suspension, BBS Aero II RT wheels and a full AMG body kit. Safety equipment includes dual front airbags. Inside, the gray leather interior is in overall great shape. The factory sport line seats have perforated surfaces. The complementing carpet is in very good order while the high quality suede headliner looks excellent. The factory floor mats are in good, original order. The center stack and center console and inner door panels, all with woodgrain inlays for a dash of warmth, are in very good order and the instrument panel comes with a full array of gauges including the correct AMG speedometer. The crowning touch in the trunk and inside is the multi-piece McIntosh best in the world quality sound system. McIntosh Mx5000 Headunit (only plays Japanese radio bands but it works well with an American FM transmitter), McIntosh MCC404M Amplifier, McIntosh MDA5000, Digital to Analog Converter, McIntosh Audio Power Capacitor, JBL Competition 608 GTI speakers and JBL Precision Crossover Network.
