Vehicle Description
Vintage trucks are red hot, and with all the Chevys and Fords
running around, what's a Mopar fan to do? Well, you could grab this
great-looking 1946 Dodge Ton Streetrod pickup that's packed with
loads of old-fashioned charm and features thoroughly updated
hardware underneath. And in case you were wondering, "Yeah, it's
got a HEMI". You won't see many like this running around and you
could probably drive it cross-country without a second thought,
thanks to an overdrive transmission, great power options, and an
all-day comfortable custom A/C interior. Then again, it was also
treated to a show-quality frame-off restoration that's not even
close to being broken in with a mere 8 miles on the clock, so you
might want to fill your trophy case before you get this hauler
dirty.
Basic Black is the perfect choice for a traditional Pre-War
designed pickup (it's technically a post-war truck, but because of
WW2 the 1941 and 1946 production years are essentially identical
across all the major US car manufacturers), and it's a roaring
success on this gorgeous Dodge. The curving shape is familiar,
simply because almost everyone loves pickups of the '40s, and with
the headlamps perched high on the tops of the front fenders, the
Dodge has a unique look that'll stand out in a crowd. It's got a
few other pre-war details like the steel running boards and pontoon
fenders, all of which make this truck a slam-dunk in the curb
appeal department. It's also beautifully finished to show-quality
standards, with very recent paint that will stand up to the most
discriminating scrutiny, and the sheetmetal underneath is
absolutely laser straight. There's no funky metallic flake or
questionable graphics, and if not for the modern rubber on the
ground, it could almost pass for a stocker. We love the side-cowl
lights, the stylized ram's horn hood ornament (you think "Ram
Tough" is a new invention?), the gorgeous trim adorning the grille,
and the bright chrome bumpers that provide brilliantly shiny
contrast against the dark paint. A solid steel bed cover was
painted to match and fits snug over the original bed (which can be
finished with wood panels inside), and the original tailgate was
finished off with bright chains and a super-cool 'V-Eight'
badge.
Simple is good inside, where you get a beautifully sculpted black
vinyl bench seat, plain black door panels with brand new vinyl
inserts, and a paint-matched dashboard - all of which take you back
to the good old days with the hindsight of brand-new components.
Updates are abound, including a tilt steering column topped by the
coolest steering wheel we've ever seen (borrowed from the Starship
Enterprise maybe?), an aftermarket A/C system under the dash, and a
full array of slick-looking AutoMeter gauges set inside a billet
housings. Clever additions include power windows controlled by the
original style roll-up handles in the doors, a heating element
incorporated into the bench seat, a digital gear shift indicator in
the floor, and a purposely upturned Kenwood AM/FM/CD/AUX/Bluetooth
that was neatly mounted in the cut-out portion of the seat. The
floors are painted metal, the headliner is wrapped in the same
material found in the door panels, and a tall Lokar chrome shifter
controls the 4-speed automatic transmission below. Loaded and clean
as can be, this is an awesome cab to spend some time in.
Long hauls and immediate power come by considerably easier with the
powerful 331 V8 HEMI motor under the hood. With three single barrel
carburetors atop a polished air-gap intake, long-tube headers, and
a show ready look under the hood, this truck runs and drives
beautifully. Chrome and polished dress-up pieces make the block
sparkle and the insanely clean and beautifully finished under-hood
look is a testament to this truck's top-flight build. Dig the shiny
air cleaners that inhale through the hood's side vents, the
finished firewall, big aluminum radiator and electric fan, and
brand-new wiring/plumbing throughout, all of which make this Dodge
a bonafide trophy hunter. The 4-speed automatic transmission means
Power Tours are in this truck's future, and with a Jaguar front and
rear end and fresh suspension components like new control arms,
sway bars, and coilovers mean this ton drives like a dream. Power
4-wheel disc brakes and power rack-and-pinion steering mean this
truck is easy to drive, and the soundtrack from the stainless
Magnaflow dual exhaust system is downright erotic. The stance is
just right, not too low to be a pain to drive and still with a
traditional look, and those Jaguar wire wheels with 215/70/15
blackwall radials certainly help.
With a frame-off, high-end restoration finished only 8 miles ago,
this incredibly cool old Dodge delivers on all the promises that
it's honest good looks promise. Call today!
