TAGFRESHLY SERVICED, DETAILED, READY TO ENJOY! Having narrowly
escaped extinction during the mid-1950s, General Motors Pontiac
division rose to third place in American sales rankings by 1962 and
held that position through 1969 with "Wide-Track" swagger and
industry-leading performance. The instantly legendary GTO arrived
for 1964, combining the mid-size Tempest with a 389 cubic inch
powerplant and a wide array of go-fast goodies to captivate
Americas fast-growing youth market. Named GTO denoting Gran Turismo
Omologato, the new Pontiac took a cheeky swipe at Ferrari's
megabuck GT racer of the time. The comprehensive GTO was a
startling value and much more than the sum of its parts, being a
very well-integrated package of engine, braking, drivetrain,
suspension, and appearance features. Sales were overwhelming for
1964 versus the most optimistic forecasts. Mild styling updates for
1965 were expanded into the definitive Coke bottle body style of
1966-67. The GTOs popularity was so great that it spurred product
planners to list the GTO as a separate Pontiac model beginning in
1966. Revised tail lamps and an increase in engine displacement to
400 cubes were the major updates for the 1967 GTO, which made the
great basic car even better than before. It remains an undisputed
collector favorite today. Documented by PHS Automotive Services,
this stunning Pontiac GTO is one of just 9,517 convertibles built
for 1967. Handsomely restored, it is finished in its
factory-specified colors including Burgundy paint, Black upholstery
and an Ivory convertible top. This GTO features a 335-horsepower,
400 CI V-8 engine and very desirable 4-speed manual transmission.
Accompanied by the original window sticker, this GTO was assembled
in Pontiac, Michigan and delivered new to Sam Swope Pontiac, Inc.
of Louisville, Kentucky. Additional factory features and options
included a pushbutton AM radio, rear-seat speaker, custom wheel
discs, power brakes, and a Soft-Ray tinted windshield. Documents
are impressive and in addition to the original window sticker, they
include the original bill of sale, warranty booklet,
Protect-O-Plate, all factory-issued books/manuals, and ownership
history, plus the original sales booklet, both keys, and even the
original dealer key tag. Freshly serviced and detailed, this rare
4-speed 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible is an outstanding find and
ready to collect, show, and enjoy. See it for yourself, get full
details, and make it yours today!
