For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang in St. Louis, Missouri

Vehicle Description

The list of iconic movie cars is long, and sometimes the sole basis for many car collectors worldwide. From popular TV Series examples to block-buster Hollywood cars, you will instantly recognize the ones you connected with emotionally. When a movie remake comes around, the challenge for a writer and director is to capture the original appeal and excitement these vehicles created within the original film. In the case of the 1974 cult classic 'Gone in 60 Seconds', a movie about an expert car thief, it featured one of the longest car chase scenes on film, totaling 40-minutes long! They also destroyed 127 cars in the process. A remake of this movie was created in 2000 starring Nicolas Cage and a long list of A-list supporting actors. This new version of the movie came with an altered storyline adding plenty of suspense, awesome vehicles from several generations, and yet again, a nail-biting car chase! The star car for the film was once again a Mustang, this time a custom 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback code-named 'Eleanor'. She became such a prize attraction from the movie that many collectors internationally simply needed to own one!

We are very excited to present this beautifully built 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback turned Shelby GT500E tribute! Finished in the correct color of Pepper Gray Metallic over Black Leather interior, this exciting Fastback comes with all the right equipment to hit the streets in head-turning style! Coming from the former owner of 11 years, the process of converting the car began not long after the movie debuted with completion in approximately 2010. The original, all steel Fastback body would be transformed with expertly fitted molded fiberglass hood, fender flares, front & rear bumpers, side skirts, lower side & B-pillar scoops, taillight panel, and rear spoiler. After meticulous man hours to sculpt the new Shelby into shape, it would be professionally painted in multiple base and clear coats with black racing stripes buried underneath! Further paint protection would come from a C Quartz Finest ceramic coating. The exterior finish is nothing short of show quality!

Under the hood lies a Ford Racing 351ci V8 fitted with Air Gap aluminum intake, Demon carburetion, SVO aluminum heads, Hedman headers, and Cervini stainless steel mufflers exiting out the side! These powerful crate engines produced 385 horsepower and 398 ft. lbs. of torque which balances perfectly with this Mustang's aggressive presentation, but also makes it very drivable in any type of environment. It shifts through a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission mated to a 9" rear axle built professionally by Strange Engineering along with 3.50 gearing and lightweight aluminum driveshaft! Performance enhancements are abundant everywhere you look! It utilizes a JMC Motorsports clutch kit, ACE Racing aluminum pinion support, Holley electric fuel pump, 7-quart racing oil pan, stainless steel brake lines with braided hoses, and much more!

The suspension system was thoroughly upgraded for a rigid foundation utilizing Global West upper/lower tubular control arms along with upper strut tower supports and cross bar, adjustable coil-over shocks and anti-sway bar. The rear uses a triangulated 4-link, adjustable coil-overs, and Detroit Speed anti-sway bar. Steering is handled with a power assisted rack-and pinion set up, and the braking with a Wilwood 4-wheel power disc system. Options included air conditioning, March billet aluminum serpentine belt system, Ring Brothers billet aluminum hood hinges & hood lock-down pins, Griffin high performance aluminum radiator with twin electric cooling fans, Clarion audio system, Carroll Shelby embroidered high-back bucket seats, Auto Meter Phantom gauges, center console with cup holders, wood steering wheel, electric trunk release, racing flip-top gas cap, and staggered iF Forged Performance chrome alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook tires measuring 235/40ZR18 up front and 255/40ZR19 at the rear.

The Shelby GT500E Fastback is truly a showstopper and brings with it all the right equipment to be enjoyed on the road and shown confidently at any specialty car event! Today, the odometer reads just 464 miles making it a solid investment with everything well sorted for dependable weekend use! Don't delay on this example, especially at this price point! Thanks for looking and feel free to call to arrange a showroom viewing!
