For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in Kansas City, Missouri

Vehicle Description

This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible is presented as a three-owner, largely original pony car with a fresh coat of Arcadian Blue paint, recent whitewall tires, and a well-sorted mechanical drivetrain. The 200ci inline-6 benefits from the installation of a replacement carburetor, newer fluids, and recent service to the drive belts and the cooling system. A floor-mounted shift lever directs power to the rear via a 3-speed automatic transmission, and appointments include air conditioning, a radio, a vinyl-trimmed trunk, and more. Finished with a black retractable top and a reupholstered black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with receipts, a spare convertible top, a snap-on black vinyl convertible boot, and a clear Missouri title in the seller’s name.

The Mustang model first went into production in March 1964 and launched what became known as the pony car segment, featuring design language characterized by a long hood and a short deck. Originally known as the T-5 project, the first Mustang shared components with its Ford Falcon and Fairlane siblings at the time. This example was manufactured in convertible form and subsequently received a repaint in Arcadian Blue (F). The contrasting black retractable top was replaced, and surrounding brightwork is noted in good condition for the bumpers, grille, side-view mirrors, handles, and other trim elements. The seller states that the body is free of rust, although there are some paint chips around the exterior. Steel 14” wheels with Mustang-branded full covers are wrapped in new whitewall tires, and stopping power comes from four-wheel drum brakes. The Pony package-equipped interior features reupholstered black vinyl low-back bucket seats, color-matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include a heater, under-dash air conditioning, and a push-button radio. The trunk has a clean finished look, lined with a vinyl mat and spare tire with a matching cover. The seller states that the glove compartment does not open.  Instrumentation is provided by a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and a coolant temperature gauge. The seller states that the speedometer and the five-digit mechanical odometer do not work. The current reading states 84k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown. The 200ci inline-6 features a newly-replaced single-barrel carburetor and was serviced by a specialty facility, receiving a replacement carburetor in March 2020. The fluids were changed in November 2019, and additional recent maintenance includes replacement of the radiator cap, belts, and more. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission. The sale includes receipts, an extra convertible top, and a snap-on black vinyl convertible boot.
