In early 1963 a team of engineers and designers got together at
Pontiac, and decided to focus more on street racing and power. The
Tempest had been in production for a bit, and a more "muscular"
powerful car was needed. Hence the acronym GTO or Grand Tempest
Option became the code for the secret new development that would
take place. John DeLorean actually claims the GTO came from the
Italian Gran Turismo Omologato or Grand Touring Homologated
(certified) which in reality the car was never meant for grand
touring, but to be the fastest straight line Pontiac produced.
Presenting in near showroom condition, this V8 LS2 Mill optioned
car which pumps out 400hp and this a sought after version is ready
to rock and roll and smoke out the masses. Some upgrades to
sugarcoat the deal even further, make this consignment a great
little piece of automotive candy for someone who has a sweet tooth
for this kind of muscle.
Exterior
Quicksilver can be seen when this car blows by you. Paint is very
nice, with just a few chips from normal road usage, and original to
this consigner stated 28,932 clocked original mile car, with no
dents or parking lot dings. Nice, 17-inch lightweight road wheels
in shiny covering finish 18x8's are wrapped in Delinte size
245/45-R17's. On the back is a beautifully curved rear spoiler.
Interior
Nicely presenting and equally as welcoming black leather buckets
are in front, and a 2 plus 2 bench, which are essentially 2 more
individual attached buckets are in back. A very clean dash, with
red background instrumentation, and very clean controls, as well as
a small LED display in the center console are there for your
monitoring. Billet aluminum pedals and an original steering wheel
are noted. A power driver's seat, and white stitching on the
gearshift and seat leather surround complete the interior
package.
Drivetrain
An LS2 6.0Liter V8 original to the car is under the hood. EFI feeds
the mill and a 4L65E 4-speed automatic with a limited slip 3.46
differential. All looking clean and great for this low mileage goer
and show-er.
Undercarriage
In a nutshell, very clean, slight surface rust on the usual
corrosive steel parts, but totally unremarkable. Beautifully
preserved, and obviously never taken out in a snow/salt
environment. Independent suspension and power disc braking all
around.
Drive-Ability
Gotta love a low mileage piece of late model muscle, and this car
does not disappoint. All good under this hood, and in the seat.
TYVM!
Taking a close look at the items included, this car has been well
cared for. Examples include original window sticker, original
owner's manual/CD, a new key base with rubber printed symbols that
are not showing any rub off. All original parts down to every bolt
and original factory 18" aluminum wheels with lug nuts. Strap on
your led foot, and brush your sweet tooth, you are going for a
ride!
