Vehicle Description
1975 Plymouth Valiant
The 1974 Valiant was also available in a "Scamp package" which
included 318 V8 engine, three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, power disc brakes, chrome trim, vinyl roof, A/C, carpet,
split vinyl bucket seat bench, radio, rear window defroster blower,
and 120 mph speedometer standard. Production was limited and
ordered as customers requested the package, a few hundred were
produced.
For consignment, a rarely ordered 1975 Plymouth Valiant Scamp, all
restored and as our consignor states, and it is definitely true, a
nice low mileage, clean, entry level classic car ready to be driven
from our hallowed halls here at Classic Auto Mall and into your
driveway. All you need is to pay for the keys!
Exterior
Looking very sporty in its previous owner's efforts for a burnt
orange respray, it has lots of shine and the paint is as deep as
the feelings you had for your first love. Also, a satin black decal
of a wide stripe runs from the grille to the windshield. Also, on
the back a wraparound stripe runs diagonally upward in front of the
lower rear quarter, apron the fender top and across the trunk lid
and back down again, and is looking very racy. A beautiful black
vinyl top is on and a few underlying bubbles can be noted on the B
pillars. Speaking of that roof, a snazzy curved inward rear glass
is atop the trunk deck and looks nice and smooth and rust free at
the borderline. Badging is all authentic Scamp and chrome shows
very slight dimpling but is nice and shiny overall. Topping off the
bottom is a full set of 14-inch American Racing Torque Thrust 5
spoke wheels to add to the racy feel of this car. You little devil
you!
Interior
A swing of either of the two doors reveals a parchment, (white),
field of smooth vinyl, molded plastic, a thin wood applique strip
and some brown carpeting for the lowers. Just slight wrinkling on
the smooth vinyl but very nicely done. In front a nicely padded and
stitched paneled split bench has fuzzy broadcloth inserts and
smooth vinyl bolsters with piping, all in white parchment and all
very clean. The same goes for the rear bench with a smooth center
vinyl panel. The wood applique panel dash front houses a square
speedometer, and a series of operand gauges and warning lights
around this speedo. In the center an aftermarket Kenwood stereo
with CD player is now neatly inserted above are the temp sliders,
and below a series of A/C vents. This all floats above some
seriously clean brown carpeting lookin like new. Above is a nice
tighty parchment headliner. What the hell?
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a very clean blue painted block of a 318ci V8,
which designates this car as Scamp. Yes, it's a numbers matching
mill, and is topped with a 2-barrel carburetor and a A904 3-speed
automatic transmission. An 8.25 rear axle spins the tires from the
power from the 318 cubes. The devil made me do it!
Undercarriage
Just a bit of surface rust throughout peppered within lots of black
patina undercoating. Previous rust repair is shown on the lower
rear inner quarter as well as some bubbling on the outer skin.
Otherwise a very solid example. For the front torsion bar
suspension and power disc brakes are on, and for the rear leaf
springs and power drums work together seamlessly. Noted is a
Flowmaster exhaust with some rust through on areas of the
pipes.
Drive-Ability
She fires right up and runs like a Scamp...or should I say champ?
Needless to say good solid cornering, smooth shifting and an all
working interior as to functionality.
A really cool grocery getter with some extra fire under the hood, a
snazzy paint job, and some black decal stripes to add to the power
mystique. Not many made with the Scamp option, and this one is all
buttoned up ready to turn the key. Enough of my fire and brimstone
description, get down here to see this pitchfork!
