Vehicle Description
1934 Ford Sedan Delivery
When it comes to 'old school cool', it doesn't get much better than
a tricked Sedan Delivery. Comfortably accommodating two passengers
and maintaining the unique ability to haul anything from a birthday
gift, to a load of lumber. These fabled workhorses combine the best
characteristics of a flashy coupe with the straight up utility of a
commercial truck, and the cargo is enclosed, away from any
elements.
This 1934 Ford makes good use of the words "tricked out." With a
two tone paint scheme, and custom all covered gray and red vinyl
interior, all you'll need is to apply your logo, and you are in
business. Or better yet, keep her as is, and throw the surfboards
in the back, and head to the beach. Now that's doing business!
Exterior
Imagine "Your Name Here" emblazoned on the sides of this classic
hauler. A deep red, painted upper body and cargo area is the
foundation for the gracefully curved black contrasting painted
fenders and running boards on either side. The truck like car rod,
will live up to the phrase "on time delivery." Side mounted
headlights flank a "shield styled" black vertical grille surrounded
by a body matching radiator covering. Like the waves in the ocean
the lower part of the front of this car undulates to form the
bumper less front "look". It could be a centerfold. On top is a new
vinyl panel, done so as the manufacturing of the day did not have
the presses to form a solid metal top. Authentic Centerline racing
15-inch polished wheels are on all 4 corners with 195/60R15's in
front and nice wide 33x12.5R15LT's on back wrapping deep polished
centerline knockoffs.
Interior
Stepping up onto the running board after a swing of the doors and
we are in all custom interior heaven. Door panels, including the
rear door, are covered in smooth red vinyl with a gray tweed
broadcloth curvaceous wisps running through the lover section.
Billet style handles and a billet black padded armrest along with a
teardrop shaped speaker are seen on these panels. Inside dual late
model buckets in two tone red vinyl and more gray tweed broadcloth
are fashioned into the front. Gray carpeting floods the floors and
the upper gray tweed broadcloth coverings occupy half of the side
panels and headliner. For the lowers, red vinyl. A carpeted custom
built shelf structure is seen in the cargo area and houses the fuel
cell. Some extra speakers are in back, and for the dash, it's
fronted by a mahogany rimmed LeCarra steering wheel and adjustable
column. This is fronting a black dash which has a lineup of
white-faced Classic Instruments with deep brass bezels looking very
industrial. As we scan across this dash we note Vintage Air, and a
Kenwood AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo head unit in front of the
passenger.
Drivetrain
Lifting the cowl hood, you will be awestruck with a totally
polished 350ci crate V8 engine setup. If you like polished
surfaces, then run in here and have a gaze at this beauty of a
mill. Even the headers are polished! It's topped with dual 4-barrel
Edelbrock carbs, and a polished intake. On top is a chromed oval
air cleaner covering. On back is a 200R4 4 speed automatic, and the
shortened rear axle accommodates the big rear rubber, weighs in at
9 inches, is from Ford, and has 3.73 gears. All bolt ons and
accessories are also polished, and it is definitely not what one
would expect when lifting the cowled hood of a '34 Sedan Delivery,
but it definitely delivers on the eye candy.
Undercarriage
As with any custom build it starts with a new solid frame and this
car is no exception. Square steel framing, like new steel floor
pans, and all steel sideboards with like new hangers abound. All
new wiring and brake lines work with power disc brakes in front and
power drums in the back. Independent coil spring suspension is now
in front, and in back a 4 link with coilovers and shiny springs are
hard to ignore!
Drive-Ability
Slipping in for the test drive I was nearly drooling to get on my
way. It came to life with a thunderous roar and idled like it's
going to chew up any competition. Getting plenty of fuel from the 8
pack on top it has near limitless acceleration. Handling is very
nice, cornering a breeze, and bias free braking from the new
brakes. A few frowns are the windows are not working, the horn does
not blow, (a problem because when you quickly run up to the next
car, you'll need to give them fair warning your commin' through!).
And the right rear signal and brake light would not illuminate.
At the end of the day, you really can't ask for a cooler street
rod. Sporting a solid body, first class paint, custom interior, and
solid drivetrain, this 34 has it all! And you can haul stuff...in
style. Talk about attracting new business, and as noted..."Your
Name Here"...Hey it can't hurt?!
