Willys vehicles and the Great American Outdoors go hand-in-hand ever since the first civilian Jeep was produced and presented to the market following World War II. This 1963 Willys Jeep Station Wagon is a testament to the word "Utility" in Sport Utility Vehicle.
The car has had three owners in it's life, including the current owner who subjected the Willys to a complete, frame-off restoration in 2016. The restoration included NO sheet metal replacement as the car was rust-free from the start. The frame was blasted and painted, the brakes were re-built and the rear-end and 4x4 were tested and approved. The car was painted to as close to original spec as possible, and the chrome presents as original, including the Willys script in the rear bumper. The glass is original to the car, shows well, and the car has the one piece windsheild.
Under the hood is the highly regarded 6-230 Tornado Engine. The Jeep Tornado engine was the first post-World War II U.S.-designed mass-produced overhead cam (OHC) automobile engine. The 230.5 cu in (3.78 L) straight-six was introduced in mid-year 1962, and replaced the flathead 6-226 Willys Super Hurricane that was in use since 1954. The motor is original to the Jeep and was professionally re-built to specs including new pistons. The engine, mated to a manual transmission, powers the wagon effortlessly.
The interior of the car received a complete restoration including new upholstery, headliner, door panels and more. Original to the car are the wood strips that were carefully re-finished. The seats, originally vinyl, were upgraded to cloth for driving comfort.
