For Sale: 1958 Chevrolet Delray in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

One look at the big air grabber on top of the hood, seriously meaty rear tires, and big rear wing, and you know this 1958 Chevrolet Delray Pro Street is a quarter-mile king. So dig into all the details on this slick supercharged coupe that takes the classic style and adds the right competition-ready goodies.

The 1958 Chevy will always be in demand for its single-year very-wide design. And this one takes full advantage of that to make a very imposing look with all that shiny chrome on the wide front end. In fact, take a moment to really see how mirror-like the chrome is and the deep luster of the two-tone red and cream. We're told the full build has less than 200 miles on it, and in fact, the low odometer is said to reflect how far this one has gone since the full custom build was completed. So there was room in the budget for a stunning restoration... even if the first thing really noticed is the speed. After all, the monster motor in this one needs so much room that it towers over the hood. The Weld Racing wheels are a bright and strong way to show off just how much rubber meets the road in the rear. And speaking of the rear, while most people talk about the wheelie bars on a pro street car, it's that airplane-sized custom aluminum rear wing that gets the attention.

The interior was given all the right investments for a true track machine. That means getting rid of extra weight and making sure everything is focused on speed. So the full rear seat package was eliminated to make way for the tubbed rear end. All the radio and temperature controls you'd find on a pedestrian Chevy are replaced with race-ready gauges and carbon fiber panels. And there's a full roll cage welded to the frame, and this included the trunk to protect the fuel cell. But being competition-worthy doesn't mean missing out on the right style. The taut headliner, plush carpeting, and smooth dash have a quality appearance. And while you have proper racing seats, they are also finished in a supple ultraleather. You have RCI five-point harnesses, a Cheetah SCS shifter, and crisp AutoMeter Pro-Comp gauges giving you all your important info.

Under the hood is a beast that's ready to show off thanks to a ton of polished components. But what you'll really love is all the substance behind the style. After all, you instantly spot the twin Holley 750 CFM four-barrel carburetors that feed the awesome Mooneyham 871 blower with underdrive pulleys. Plus, the big block underneath has been built to be a fortified unit to work well with the force-fed power. It starts with a 454 cubic-inch V8 that has balanced & blueprinted and been bored .60 over to 468ci total. It includes TRW pistons, a Competition Engineering camshaft, Comp Cam hydraulic roller lifters, ARP studs, a Weiand intake, and Edelbrock aluminum heads. This professional build knows how to exhale with authority thanks to hooker long tube headers feeding the side exhaust. This big power build is supported by the best pieces, including steel braided lines w/AN fittings, an MSD 6AL ignition, and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. This fires up with that cool growl and whirr combination that tells everyone you have supercharged V8 power. This full package is estimated to make a whopping 980 horsepower! That's why the transmission is a stout TH400 three-speed automatic unit with a TCI torque converter, 3500 stall, and a shift kit. The undercarriage is just as clean as the rest of this build, and so you can clearly see the custom square tube steel chassis, Fat Man tubular A-arm front end, ladder bar rear, adjustable coilovers, and four-wheel disc brakes.

There are a ton more components to go over, and you can call us for all the details. But you already know this is an awesome build with some serious attitude. So you know it's going to be moving out of here fast. Call now!
