Vehicle Description
1972 Chevrolet Pickup Custom 10
Starting in the model year 1967 General Motors introduced a whole
new design of their truck line. This new line came with the
nickname "Action Line". This new C/K line of trucks had added
modern conveniences to a truck that had previously been built for
work purposes. These new conveniences included coil spring rear
suspension, with leaf spring suspension still available if you
preferred. All of the two-wheel drive trucks came with independent
front suspensions.
For consignment, a nice and straight, rust free, C-10 Pickup. This
4x4 is bathed in interesting turquoise paint and uses black
accenting along with shiny chrome for its look. A 350ci V8 crate
motor is now in, and for the interior, wonderfully redone. Oh and
don't forget the oak lined bed looking like new, and it's
covered!
Exterior
Probably one of the most popular of all the GM trucks, this 2nd
generation last year 1972 has the look that is very desirable. A
nice shiny egg crate grille, single round headlights on either side
within a square chrome bezel, and wide surround just above the
bumper and all is in very good condition. This leads the way for
the straight steel with well minded gaps and all bathed in
turquoise paint. Badging, marker lighting, handles and mirrors have
been kept in chrome and adds a nice peppering of accenting to the
turquoise background. On back of the cab is a long sliding tinted
glass window and this gazes out upon the vinyl covering that
protects the bed behind this cab. This covering does not lift but
protects a beautifully restored oak and shiny divider lined bed.
Beautiful turquoise also bathes this inside, and tailgate, and
there does not appear to be a mark on it. Overall an excellent
presentation on an iconic must have model C-10.
Interior
Utility meets comfort, and a smattering of bling also is noted for
this interior. The door panels, in black, have an embossed Sheridan
tooled look these panels, along with black molded plastic for the
armrests, and lower panel which now sports an in the door speaker.
Moving to the bench its beautiful and a nice compliment to the
exterior, utilizing gray light broadcloth which has been tucked and
rolled for the inserts. The surrounding bolsters are black vinyl,
and all are in excellent condition. In front of the 3 spoke
steering wheel is the iconic dash for GM in this generation in the
form of a trio of round gauges within a black dash front. More
circular instruments in smaller format run along the bottom of the
dash front. Chromed eyeball vents are seen on each corner. Mounted
neatly in dash central is a JVC sound system with AM/FM/CD
capabilities. This truck is equipped with factory A/C, and has a
black padded dash top. Black carpeting is like new and covering the
floors, and above is a black stamped painted metal headliner.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, and within a gaggle of wiring and hoses is stuffed
a 350ci GM crate engine. This has an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel
carburetor, and on back a TH350 3-speed automatic. Rear wheel power
is distributed by a 12-bolt rear. Headers are now on and melt into
a Flowmaster exhaust.
Undercarriage
All clean underneath with surface rust seen only on the leaf
springs. All else is nice and black and structurally sound. Even
the bed liner boards underneath look great! Leaf springs all
around, and power disc brakes for the front, and power drums for
the back.
Drive-Ability
All was well with a quick fire up and the test track was no match
for this restored C-10. All was fine with acceleration, panic
stopping, and even handling was good. I noticed the tachometer was
not working but all else was.
A not oft seen color but really nicely done on this iconic must
have generation and year C-10. Beautifully done, and now all you
have to do is turn the key and off to work or play. Life does not
get any better in this bowtie world.
