GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL
for your consideration. The 560SL was the top model for the
Mercedes-Benz SL lineup. It is powered by its 5.6L V8 motor which
routes power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic
transmission and limited slip differential. Mercedes-Benz knew what
they were doing when designing the 560SL, the combination of the
large displacement V8 and silky smooth transmission made this a
fantastic driving vehicle that had plenty of power but was also as
smooth as butter during acceleration. Also added to the 560SL were
full independent suspension, disc brakes at all four corners with
ABS, power steering, and cruise control.
This example is finished in Pearl Grey Metallic and sports both a
black soft top and paint matched hard top. Both tops can be removed
to make this an open top roadster that provides an exhilarating
driving experience. The interior is a grey leather that remains in
exceptional condition. Creature comforts include automatic climate
control, power windows, anti-theft system, electric rear window
defroster (on hardtop), aftermarket Sony radio, power windows, and
adjustable front seats. Needless to say, this Mercedes is loaded to
the top and is suited to handle nearly any drive.
Accompanying this beautiful 560SL is the original window sticker
which shows it being delivered to the Chicago vehicle preparation
center before being sold out of Acme Motors of Acme, MI. Also noted
on the original window sticker is the factory MSRP of $61,080.
The Mercedes-Benz SL series started out as the top of the line
sports luxury tourer that offered both performance and comfort. The
third generation SL was called the R107 chassis and is one of the
most recognizable Mercedes of all time. Produced from 1971 all the
way to 1989, the R107 lived a long and cherished life. The United
States was an extremely popular market for the personal luxury
coupe, and almost ? of all SL's were sold here. While not as quick
or pretty as their European cousins, the US market SL's still
represented the cream of the personal luxury car crop. They are
elegant, stylish, sporty, performance-driven and for the time
being, relatively affordable. There isn't a better way to enjoy
summer than in this 560SL Roadster.
