For Sale: 1989 Chevrolet Corvette in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

Pace cars have always been popular, but what do you do if there's a pace car for which the factory built no replicas? Well, the guy who was a huge fan of the Corvette used at the 2007 Daytona 500 had this 1989 Corvette convertible styled to match, and it'severy bit as much fun to drive as you'd think. With a strong 350 TPI V8, a top that goes down, less than 62K actual miles, and that killer red-white-and-blue color combination inside-and-out, this '89 Corvette Pace Car replica is dying to get noticed.

Don't worry, for those of you that might want to change the appearance down the road, the pace car look is not permanent. Using modern computer technology, they were able to take the look of the 2007 pace car and transfer it to the 1989 Corvette bodywork with vinyl decals. The result is nothing short of traffic-stopping and like many other Corvette pace cars, it's far from subtle. Underneath, there's actually a darned nice Corvette with gorgeous white paint and factory-precise gaps. Of course, being plastic, the bodywork doesn't rust or rot and the overall impression is that of a car that has always lived a pretty easy life. Obviously, it has Texas blood in its veins (although it's spent several years in Michigan as well, but has always been garage kept and well-cared for), as you can see from the Texas-themed Bowtie emblem on the hood as well as a big TEXAS badges on the rear bumper, and yeah, if you live in Texas it's go big or go home. You'll also find cool upgrades like LED taillights and oversized chrome tailpipes there are few signs of abuse or neglect. It's no longer perfect, but any minor imperfection you might find you can count on one hand, and with only 61,904 actual miles on the clock it's about as nice of a C4 as you'll find at this price point. This is just a dialed-in modern classic, regardless of the flashy bodywork.

The custom interior is beautifully done with bespoke seat covers that were stitched (not dyed) to mimic the Texas state flag. Red leather was this car's original choice, but the white and blue additions make for a dramatic look and the professional workmanship ensures that it looks appealing. It's all in very good condition, with minimal wear on the seats (even on the high-wear side bolsters) great carpets, and original door panels that don't even show a dent where the driver's elbow might rest. The Corvette's digital gauges are big, bright, and easy-to-read, and with a carbon fiber applique, it has a modern, high-tech look. There's more carbon on the shift knob as well as a custom leather steering wheel wrap, and the original stereo is gone, replaced by a modern Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo head unit. All the usual Corvette options are here, including automatic climate control, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, a tilt wheel, and cruise control, so driving this vintage 'Vette is hardly a hardship. Even the storage area under the hatch is in excellent condition and not faded by the sun.

Packing a virtually indestructible L98 350 cubic inch V8, this Corvette remains a blast to drive. It's stock mechanically but offers polished aluminum valve covers to dress things up a bit under the hood. Service work includes newer injectors, a newer ECM, a freshened A/C compressor with R134a conversion, and a sparkling Magnaflow stainless steel cat-back exhaust system underneath that sounds fantastic. It's a great runner with an awesome performance sound and the 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission was always the best choice with the L98. The undercarriage is shockingly clean for a car that's more than 30 years old and it's been upgraded with drilled and slotted brake rotors at all four corners. Chrome wheels from a C6 Corvette are a great addition that still looks somewhat OEM and they're wrapped in fresh 275/40/17 BFGoodrich G-Force performance rubber.

Fun comes standard with every Corvette, but this one packs a bunch of visual appeal and some useful upgrades to make every outing an experience. If you like pace cars or Corvette convertibles alike, this dialed-in beauty will definitely stand out. Call today!
