We have this very nice 64 Impala at our showroom. The 64 is a very desirable car right now. This one is especially popular because it has the favorite 409 engine. It is not an original 409, but it is a true 64 Impala SS.
The current owner inherited this car from his dad in 2015. The car had the 409 in it already, but it was not running as well as it should. He took it to a local restoration shop for a diagnosis and they tore down the engine to find it had some damage likely due to detonation. It was decided to rebuild the engine to be able to handle the high octane pump gas sold today. It was sent to the best local engine shop in the area and totally rebuilt. We have the invoice that describes the work in detail.
Features Include:
Rebuilt Non Matching #s 409 Long Block
3 Speed Auto Transmission
Drum Brakes All Around
Tinted Windshield
Original Interior
You will see by the photo of the VIN tag that this is a true SS.
The VIN# proves that this is a real 64 Impala SS. It was not a 409 however.
The original interior is showing it's age. The seats are really not worn, but the seams are coming apart on the driver's seat.
The glove box cover has deteriorated quite a bit, but this is the worst of the interior issues.
There is also some cracking on the original padded dash.
This is the original tinted windshield.
The engine compartment is nicely detailed.
The undercarriage shows it's age the most. There is a lot of surface rust, and a couple of more serious spots which we show.
The 2 following shots show the holes in the floor pans and support brackets on both sides by the front seats.
The remainder of the undercarriage is not bad.
There is this small area of damage where it looks like someone bottomed out on something.
All of the bright work is in very good condition.
One other bit of damage on the rear driver's side.
It wouldn't take much to bring this car to another level. You can't beat the great style of these 64 Impalas. They are highly collectible right now.
