Vehicle Description
2002 Pontiac Trans Am
Forecasting the classics of tomorrow is pure conjecture and
speculation. Vehicles are inherently liabilities, not investments.
However, some vehicles are undoubtedly more significant than
others. If one were to attempt to validate such a vehicle, here are
some issues to consider: Is it an anniversary car? Did it Have
Limited Production, does it hold water with pop culture use, and is
it fun to drive? Well the last one is speculation.
For consignment, chance to put yourself in the seat where you will
be driving excitement! This in the form of a 2002 Trans Am 35
Anniversary Edition. This car was much beloved by its owner who has
recently passed, and now his wife is parting with this low mileage
much beloved car. A beautiful coat of collector yellow with ebony
trim combination, WS6 performance package, and I'm excited!
Exterior
Making use of many a curvaceous surface, this car appears to be
moving when standing still. From its shapely integrated bumper with
fog lights, turn signals and air intakes, it seamlessly moves into
the hood. Up here we are greeted with more air intakes, bulbous
hidden headlights and a dual cowl hood scoop complete with dual
screaming chickens and licking flames heading towards the
windshield in multiple shades of warm gray. Speaking of the
windshield it has a major swept back rake to it and adds to the
Rubenesque line when viewed from the sides. More air intakes, good
gaps and some sweeping graphics are seen here. The large black B
pillar supports a swept back curved greenhouse glass rear window,
and this makes its way under an integrated tail spoiler. More round
design on the rear honeycomb taillights, and another curved
integrated bumper and we have a thing of undulating collector
yellow beauty.
Interior
Popping off the smoked glass "T" tops we can venture inside to a
world of more curved surfaces in the form of high back, black
leather covered power bucket seats with embroidered screaming
chicken graphics stitched into the headrests. A dual bucket setup
in the rear. All this leather is in good condition showing them
aging gracefully. The buckets flank a sweeping forward black
console which houses a large glove box/armrest and the black
leather booted and topped Hurst shifter. The undulating dash, in
black, houses the instrument panel, a banging Delco radio/ CD
player with equalizer and 10 speakers strategically placed to rock
your world. This radio can be controlled by the steering wheel so
you can continue your cruise while changing the tunes. Nice black
carpet covers the floors. Just a note the mileage showing on the
digital odometer is a paltry 5,102 original miles.
Drivetrain
With Ram Air, EFI and a WS6 performance handling package, this
healthy mill can take you down the road at exciting speed. Rated at
5.7 liters, our LS1 with electronic fuel injection, and a T56
6-speed manual transmission throwing power back to a RPO code GU6
3.42 posi rear axle will have you up to speed in no time. Exhaling
is through factory manifolds, and stock mufflers.
Undercarriage
Save for some usual surface rust on uncoated suspension parts, it
could be considered factory underneath, with great structural
integrity, super clean floor pans, and a straight frame. A low
restriction exhaust, traction control, independent front and torque
arm rear suspension, and power disc brakes all around. I'm now past
excitement nearly to the point of delirium. Cue the yellow
overspray from the factory!!
Drive-Ability
Turning the key will ignite the candles immediately. This car has
plenty of power, rides very nicely, and has an ergonomically
comfortable interior setup for the driver. A flip of the traction
control switch and you get a whole different ride. Great airflow
without the smoked glass t-top panels installed.
Well maintained, and looking good, one cannot go wrong with this
not mellow yellow anniversary edition 6-speed beauty. 17" black
coated 5 spoke wheels with high performance tires, plenty of
conveniences, and the removable "T" top and we have produced
exhilaration, well beyond the bounds of excitement! NURSE!! Time to
change my diaper, the decoder just took me for a test drive.
