Vehicle Description
For sale here is a unique Mopar that is similar to the cars many
racers rebuilt back in the day to more radically modified forms in
hoping to attain quarter-mile glory themselves. This is a 1965
Plymouth Belvedere also known as the "Chicago Hustle" this Plymouth
is a custom California rebuild by Mopar restorer Bob Munoa starting
with a solid body. Munoa created this custom altered-wheelbase car
from the Belvedere sedan model, which is how many independent
racers rebuilt their factory Super Stock A990 cars. This included
the forward movement of the front and rear wheels beneath the car
and application of lighter body parts. However, this has "too much
is just enough" under the hood now, as the Hemi here is a 426-style
model build upped by over 100 cubes into a 528 CI beast. This
includes a set of period-appearance tall-stack Hillborn fuel
injectors that are actually electronic, lit by a reliable MSD
ignition system and featuring a nice amount of chrome and firewall
detailing. As was the case with the A990 cars, this car has a
trunk-mounted battery as well as an upgrade with a rear panel kill
switch. The 528 CI engine is backed by a TorqueFlite transmission
and chrome-cover Dana 60 SureGrip differential. The Belvedere's
inside is customized like no other. Yes, there is a set of
A990-type lightweight custom bucket seats and the "typewriter"
pushbutton transmission controls, which are still in place and
functional. Added are custom boxed-in control panels for toggles
and gauges, done in bright red colors, plus tinted windows and a
full roll cage. The outside features a custom graphics design in
two-tone paint and lettering, race decals, blue-color headlamp
covers and detailed race wheels with competition tires. This era
rapidly changed the face of drag racing forever, and the "Chicago
Hustle" Plymouth was built to let you experience it for yourself.
