Vehicle Description
Dial up a Google Image search for "1935 Ford" and you'll be greeted
by pages of elaborate fiberglass customs. Indeed, the De Luxe Ford
is right up there with Willys and Bel Airs when it comes to hot
rodding's greatest cultural icons. And, while we're all about
creativity and radical builds, this alluring sedan truly feels like
a breath of fresh air. Founded on the proven tenets of street
rodding, the car was fully revitalized during a comprehensive,
ground-up restoration. With an all-steel body, factory brightwork
and glossy Rally Red paint, its basic specs could describe a
relatively stock car. But a few minutes of deeper examination
reveals otherwise, as, from custom upholstery and 350 cubic inches
of Camaro V8 to cool air conditioning and a modern automatic
transmission, choice modifications start adding up to one
impressive ride. If you're an enthusiast who enjoys a near perfect
mix of vintage hardware and modern convenience, here's a classic
that delivers in every way!
ALL FORD STEEL!
This timeless Ford began life as a fun runabout that was
maintained, driven and paraded for most of its existence. When the
car met its current owner, original Dearborn steel was treated to a
six-figure restoration that, after a solid ten years in the shop,
reflected bright Honda Rally Red pigment via quality PPG two-stage.
And today, this award-winning cruiser rolls as a 'built for keeps'
street rod that warps fully sorted mechanicals in traditionally
unique aesthetics! Those digs kick off with a long grille which,
re-chromed by the pros at Advanced Plating, centers a classy Ford
emblem between a polished bumper, ornate horns and chrome-trimmed
tri-bar headlights that are finished with integrated turn signals.
A racy "V8" topper leads a four-piece, stainless-trimmed hood,
which reflects voluptuous fenders and wrapped running boards. At
the back of that hood, a polished wiper clears a stainless-trimmed
windscreen, which fronts a factory greenhouse that's capped by
tight factory vinyl. Elegant mirrors reflect factory door handles
and a polished fuel cap. And at the back of the car, a second
polished bumper splits flashy exhaust tips and polished Blue Dot
Taillights.
PROVEN CHEVY POWER!
This sweet sedan powers down the road thanks to a 350 cubic inch
L98 V8 that, in addition to being bored .040 over, was
professionally balanced and blueprinted by the pros at K&T
Engine Development of Concord, North Carolina. At the front of the
Jet Black block, a polished air cleaner pushes wind through a
polished intake, which works well with GM Tuned Port Fuel
Injection. That perfect mixture of air and fuel juices a mild COMP
cam, which works well with fluid roller rockers. Sparks are
sequenced from a hot HEI distributor to loomed Taylor plug wires.
Spent gases swirl through streamlined Sanderson headers. Polished
pulleys spin a polished alternator opposite a polished AC
compressor. Cooling comes courtesy of a proven Walker radiator,
which makes excellent use of an electronic puller fan. And, on the
visual end of the spectrum, polished valve covers perfectly
complement a polished brake booster, a polished oil pan and
polished hood supports.
ENJOY THE DRIVE!
Every good street rod has a solid foundation. Flip this Ford upside
down and you'll find a roster of mechanical improvements that mix
classic looks with modern mobility. Behind the small block, a
cooled GM 700R4 4-speed spins power to a 9-inch Ford pumpkin that's
finished with stout Moser axles and fun, 3.50 gears. A full Fat Man
Fabrications frame wraps an independent Fat Man Fabrications
front-clip around spry QA-1 coil-overs and modern power
rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is solid, thanks to
power-assisted discs and drums. There's an aluminized exhaust
system that barks through throaty turbo mufflers. And everything
rolls on chromed Ridler blades, which spin 205/65R15 General
AltiMAX RTs in front of 235/75R15 General AltiMAX RTs.
ENJOY THE RIDE!
Pop the doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that's much
nicer than traditional factory fodder. At ground level, premium
carpet centers a tall Lokar shifter between a small console and a
polished fire extinguisher. At the center of that rug, plush,
power-adjustable buckets ride snug between sculpted side panels,
which anchor traditional handles and stylish armrests in front of
modern power windows. In front of those seats, a monochromatic dash
founds gold-tinged telemetry beside modern air conditioning and
modern Pioneer audio. And the driver spins a polished, banjo-style
steering wheel around a polished tilt column and a billet go
pedal.
The street rod scene is huge! And, looking over this Ford, it's not
hard to see why. The car's clean, unaltered lines are enough to
draw any enthusiast, and the reliability of a modern GM powertrain
is more than enough to keep folks smiling. Have you forgotten what
it's like to actually drive a car? To drive a car you actually
enjoy? To drive a car that'll inspire joyous memories for years to
come? Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and grab the wheel
