This 1979 Chevrolet Camaro is a Z/28 tribute that has more power
than an original thanks to a stroker V8. And with the bold paint,
four-on-the-floor, and plenty more upgrades, this is a classic
coupe that's a ton of fun.
Chevy had many shades of blue in '79, but nobody is ever going to
mistake this electric-like shade of blue for being one of them. It
has a nice upgraded luster that commands attention the moment the
sunlight hits the body. The tall cowl induction hood and 17-inch
American Racing wheels also give this the look of a meaner machine.
But while upgraded, this one makes sure to get the classic pieces
right, too. After all, the Z-cars had one of the coolest graphics
packages around, and so this one has the triple-tone blue stripes
streaking down the doors and under the front spoiler. That spoiler
is part of an aggressive body kit that also gives you the fender
flares, fender vent trim, and a full-width rear spoiler. So they
made the right investments for a proper Z/28 appearance.
The sea of blue continues inside. There are some nice comfort
features, like the high-back front bucket seats, armrest center
console, power locks, power steering, and even a sunroof. There are
provisions for other upgrades you may want to make, like a new
stereo or add components to return the factory A/C. But we doubt
you're going to be doing that because the focus here is on
performance...and the Hurst T-handle shifter will always remind you
of that.
Under the hood is plenty of black accenting to suggest some serious
speedy business. This is the 383 cubic-inch stroker V8 motor. That
means big block displacement in a small block weight. This also has
a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. Plus, the
upgraded cam also adds a mean exhaust note. And you have full
control over the enhanced power and rumbling soundtrack thanks to
the four-speed manual transmission. This has power disc brakes up
front, traction bars in the era, and modern sport tires all-around
for a proper Z-car sports experience.
