Vehicle Description

1995 Saab 900 SE Turbo Convertible Debut model year for the 900 Saab Convertible 2.0L turbocharged DOHC, 16-valve four-cylinder engine (code B204L) Five-speed manual transmission (code F25) Imola Red (code 240) exterior with black, power-folding canvas soft-top and Charcoal leather interior Automatic climate control, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, power assisted, four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power and heated front buckets and more Safety features include a driver?s side airbag and anti-lock brakes Headlight wipers and washers, heated sideview mirrors, front and rear foglights and rear window defroster The car ?Born from Jets? decided to go topless for 1995 for its new generation platform. It has had the same owner since 2017. Built at the Valmet Automotive Factory in Finland in May 1994, this example is finished in Imola Red (code 240) and the paint and trim are in over decent order. The bodywork is straight and solid with the body-colored bumper fitting tightly to the body. The engine bay is in satisfactory shape while the battery dates to December 2019. This Saab rolls on older Goodyear Eagle GT radials, size 205/50R16 at every corner that are showing their age. Each tire is mounted on a factory alloy wheel. The car?s wheels and tires are all in good, original order. A 2.0L turbocharged DOHC, 16-valve four-cylinder engine (code B204L) is under the hood with a Garrett T25 turbocharger. The motor is mated to a five-speed manual transmission (code F25). Driver convenience features included automatic climate control, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, cruise control, power assisted four-wheel disc brakes, power and heated front bucket seats and a digital infotainment display. Safety equipment includes a driver?s side airbag and anti-lock brakes. Inside, the Charcoal leather interior is in overall satisfactory shape. The front buckets show wear, particularly on the driver?s seat; a testament to how much this car has been enjoyed over the years. The black carpet is in good condition, and a three-spoke steering wheel houses the driver?s airbag. The instrument panel, with its burled accent trim for warmth and the inner door liners are all in good order. A/C blower works but not blowing cold. A console-mounted shift lever and a factory AM/FM stereo with a cassette deck completes the interior. The second or ?new? generation Saab 900 (also referred to as the GM900 or NG900 among enthusiasts) was built on GM's GM2900 platform as a replacement for the ?classic? first-generation Saab 900. This all-new 900 was produced in 1994 through 1998 model years. Variants included 900i (four-cylinder, non-turbo), S (four-cylinder, non-turbo in the USA; sometimes turbo in other markets) and SE (four-cylinder turbo or V-6) models in three-door, five-door and convertible body styles. For 1997 and 1998 only, there was also a Saab 900 Talladega, after a record-breaking endurance test in 1996, on the Talladega Superspeedway. Trim levels in ?S? and ?SE? models varied greatly in the models although in general SE models included Automatic Climate Control (ACC), leather interiors, wood-trimmed dashboards and 16" wheels. The top on the 900 works manually only. Depending on market, the NG900 was available with a choice of 2.0L or 2.3L Saab 16-valve DOHC engines (Saab engine codes B204 and B234) in naturally aspirated or turbocharged form (2.0 L only). Engine management for the turbos was by Saab Trionic 5 with Direct Ignition (SDI) and Automatic Performance Control (APC), and for non-turbos by Bosch Motronic fuel injection. A distributor-operated ignition system was provided for naturally aspirated engines in some markets. In contrast to the ?classic? Saab 900 with its longitudinally mounted engine and front-hinged hood (bonnet), the NG900 had a more-common transversely mounted engine with rear-hinged hood (bonnet). The convertible variant was introduced in 1995 (1994 is a continuation of the C900 line). Convertibles were produced at the Valmet plant in Finland. Convertibles were available in both ?S? and ?SE? trim levels. Convertible competition to this Saab in 1995 included Chevrolet?s Cavalier, Ford?s Mustang, Pontiac?s Sunfire and Toyota?s Celica.
