Vehicle Description
CPR Classic is delighted to offer this beautiful 1994 Porsche 964
Speedster finished in its original color combination of Guards Red
over a black and red interior. This example shows 24,800 miles
since new and has remained in Southern California for the entirety
of its life.
CPR acquired this Speedster from a Riverside-based owner who drove
the car sparingly over the past 15-plus years. Upon arrival to CPR,
the car was found to be in excellent condition but in need of a
major service after having been driven very minimally over the past
five years. A detailed service was performed, including all fluids
and new spark plugs, as well as a complete paint correction to
remove minor imperfections and light oxidation from the painted
surfaces.
The car currently retains all of its original paint and meters in
factory specification throughout. However, CPR is slated to repaint
the clamshell on the vehicle before delivery to the new owner due
to several minor cracks that have formed on the shell throughout
its lifetime.
This Speedster was the beloved centerpiece of a long-term owner's
small collection of sports cars and motorcycles. The car has spent
many weekends taking the owner on vibrant drives through the
Riverside wine country and out to Palomar Mountain. The car was
treated as a member of the family for years and has been kept in
outstanding original condition.
Following the service that we performed, this Speedster was
road-tested and found to be in superb condition. The car starts
effortlessly, whether cold or warm, shifts beautifully with great
clutch feel and a solid linkage, and turns in confidently during
spirited driving giving the user excellent feedback and a
wonderfully engaging drive.
This Speedster was originally optioned from the factory as
follows:
331 - Cassette-radio Becker Porsche CR-1 (Not currently installed,
but remains with the car)
454 - Automatic speed control
573 - Air conditioner
900 - Accession of the car at the factory
The Porsche 964 Speedster was the last air-cooled production-based
Speedster Porsche built. Enthusiasts of the style had to wait
nearly two decades to see the next incarnation of the Speedster in
the 997.2 generation. Only 936 Porsche 964 Speedsters were produced
during the 1993 & 1994 model years, making these cars exceedingly
rare and a great addition to any air-cooled collection.
The 964 generation Porsches have become unbelievably desirable over
the past decade. They mark the last iteration of the 911 that
retains the iconic original shape, and all models have become
sought after in today's market. The Speedster is the most notable
option for someone looking to put the top down. If you are in the
market for a special 964, and one that would fit in nicely at any
air-cooled stable, this is a must-consider example.
