For Sale: 1942 Willys Pickup in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey
This 1942 Willys pickup is powered by a 350ci/300HP Chevrolet V8
with a Turbo350 automatic transmission and rides on the original
1942 frame. The body consists of a combination of original Willys
sheet metal and fiberglass reproduction pieces; all finished in a
period-style beige and tan two-tone with a Ruby Red leather
interior, Lobeck steering wheel, and performance suspension system.
Located in Massachusetts, this Willys is now offered by Zoom
Classic Cars with a clean Massachusetts title. The body is finished
in two-tone cream and tan and was professionally restored,
completed in 2013. The front end is a 1941 style fiberglass unit
with an opening hood, while the cowl, dash, and windshield frame
are all-steel from 1937. The roof is 1941 fiberglass, as well as a
rear half of a cab from Willys Works. Steel doors from 1941 were
fitted with bear claw latches, while the rear fenders are 1942
Chevrolet fiberglass, and the front fenders are steel. The
refurbishment included the use of OEM Willys replacement parts for
the grille, headlights, and trim, utilizing parts from years 1937
through 1942. The bed is custom-built with mahogany planks and
stainless-steel hardware, and it includes a custom storage bin.
Aftermarket Solids wheels are finished in tan with chrome Willys
center caps and beauty rings. The truck rides on the original 1942
frame that has been fully boxed and equipped with rack and pinion
steering as well as TCI suspension and brake components. The
interior is fitted with tan carpeting and matching carpeted floor
mats with burgundy border piping. Bucket seats are equipped and
upholstered in Ruby Red leather that extends through the cab and
the headliner. The dashboard is metal and color-matched to the
vehicle's exterior and houses a Kenwood AM/FM/CD head unit with an
8-speaker stereo system. A steering column sourced from a 1969
Chevrolet Vega was installed and equipped with a custom Lobeck
steering wheel. All wiring and electrical components were sourced
from Easywire, and additional equipment includes power windows and
a heater. Instrumentation consists of aftermarket Autometer gauges
mounted to the dash's center, with a 120-mph speedometer, along
with gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and
fuel level. The digital aftermarket odometer reads 3k miles, which
are the miles since the build was completed. The 350ci V8 is
equipped with an aluminum intake manifold and 4 barrel carburetor,
with a chrome air cleaner and finned valve covers added. A Griffin
radiator was installed with a chrome fan shroud. Power is
transferred to the rear wheels through a TH350 automatic
transmission and 2.73 rear end from a 1986 Ford Mustang. The
vehicle has been NSRA safety inspected. Car is stored in MA.
