For Sale: 1929 Ford Model A in Spokane, Washington

Vehicle Description

1929 Model A Roadster Custom Show Car

You are viewing a winning show car built in 1996 by Don Wilbur with 2,500 miles driven since finished.  Don is very well known in the Northwest throughout the decades as a drag racer, car show promoter owning the Spokane Auto Boat Speed Show, which he ran for almost 50 years.  Don is a legend in Spokane in the classic car hobby and also a member of the Washington State Hot Rod Hall of Fame.  Don passed away a few years ago.  Every car Don built over the years was done with a special eye for detail and finished with high quality using only the best available hi quality parts.  All of them were very costly to build.  This car has about 150K invested in the build.  Tim Stromberger owner of famed Tim’s Hot Rods was the most involved with the build.  Other notable people in the Spokane area were involved with body and paint as well as the interior.  Don himself was directly involved with the engine build.  The car was purchased 18 years ago and has been stored in a dry climate.  Ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.  The car is a quick little bugger.

Please read on for more particulars of the car:

Body/Paint:
Fiberglass body customized with lots of detail finish,  Many hours getting the body totally perfect knowing the car was being built for the show circuit, but also built for the road to drive.  Body is in super nice condition with the paint being base/clear also in super nice condition.  Trunk popper with battery access through bottom of trunk.  Shows very nice.  No Top

Interior:  The leather interior is simple and functional.  A bit tight so 6 foot and under is suggested for height and up to 200 lbs max.  Nice custom seat with seat belts.  Cruise control, full VDO gauge set up.

Running Gear:   Custom built 355 engine by Don Wilbur with a custom tuned TPI fuel injected set up by Street and Performance.  Brodex heads and built with the best engine components money can buy.  Approximately 400 horse.  Lots of power for a light car.  The transmission is a Doug Nash 5 speed with Hurst shifter.  The rear end is a Franklin quick change with a Detroit Locker all polished.

Suspension:  Custom built Brizio frame with side rails smoothed to match up to the body perfect.  Cross tubing to add stability with pan bar and polished suspension components.  All high end stuff.  Coil overs front and rear with 4 link set up and polished drop axle.

Bright work:  All in great condition.

Glass:  New

Exhaust:   Custom and polished

Brakes:  Custom and polished, 4 wheel disc brakes

Wheels/Tires:   Budnik polished wheels, 6X15 front and 11.5 X 17 rear with BGF tires, 190/60/15 front and 275/60/17 rear

Summary:    The quality of the build can only be appreciated by seeing the car.  Great car for fair weather driving and a nice through back for a show car built in the 90s.  I have over 100 pictures of the car so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures. Reasonable price so why build when you can enjoy today. Great value for the money.
