For Sale: 1914 Cadillac Model 30 in Solon, Ohio

Vehicle Description

New Price!

Cadillac earned its reputation as one of the finest luxury brands ever since they began with a run of reliable, best-selling single-cylinder cars in 1903. When customers demanded a more refined car with higher power, Cadillac answered with the Model 30. Then, in 1912, it introduced Charles Kettering’s innovative design . . . the industry’s first electric self-starter.

For 1913 and 1914 the Cadillac engine was enlarged to 366 cubic inches (6 liters) and -- to increase the 1914’s performance -- a Timken two-speed rear end was used! It was the only year it was available.

This striking motorcar recently had an engine refreshment consisting of new heads, valves and valve springs, and a timing chain. The copper water jackets were cleaned and buffed and the crankcase cleaned. Also, the external contracting brakes were relined.

The dark green body with gold pinstripes and black fenders accentuates the car’s presence. As you would expect, the diamond tufted leather upholstery and the paint show minor patina but are still attractive.

The engine is very interesting as it is the last of the four-cylinder, copper water-jacketed engines designed by Alanson Brush. The dash features a functioning speedometer, ignition/lights switch cluster, oil drip indicator, and fuel tank pressure gauge. The fuel level gauge is on the tank. The power tire pump works, and a unique “fat man” steering wheel is used to accommodate larger drivers.

For extra safety, integrated vintage turn signals and brake lights have been added.

Twin spares are on the back of the chassis and a Cadillac jack and many other tools are included. Side curtains are rolled up with the top. The custom-made mahogany running board tool box is included, and there is also a large tool storage compartment under the front seats. A 1914 owner’s manual and illustrated parts book, both original, are included in a leatherette pouch.

The 1914 Cadillacs have an imposing stance and ride on big 27-inch wheels with 34 x 4½-inch tires. With the impressive look of a large touring car, it epitomizes the size and performance of elite cars of the period at a fraction of the price.

Considered by many to be the best value of the brass era, these '14 Cadillacs rarely come to market, and this car can be considered an excellent opportunity.

This lovely Cadillac runs smoothly at 50 to 55 mph without hesitation and has lots of room for luggage in the rear seat area. It’s eligible for FARTS and HCCA events, and we know you’ll agree that it’s the perfect tour car.
