To help get farmers off of horses in the 1930's, Pierre Boulanger,
Vice President of Citroen developed the 2CV, an affordable
dependable car for the masses...Sound Familiar? Well, the
Volkswagen Beetle and its beginnings started off pretty much the
same way. In fact, the air cooled design was also used, the only
difference is the front wheel drive format vs. the RWD of the
Beetle. And although extremely underpowered, the Citroen engine
design has been known to be extremely reliable. This particular Gem
was imported from the motherland in 2014 and has been with the same
Northern Michigan winery and B and B owners since then. The car
comes with its import papers as well as clean Michigan title. The
car has had only a couple minor services performed since they took
ownership but seems to start, runs and go down the road as it
should? To be honest, this is the first 2CV I have had here so I am
not exactly sure how they are supposed to drive but its fun
nonetheless. The car has some minor cosmetic surface rust
underneath, but no rot anywhere. The 2CV was the very first car to
sell a million front wheel drives. In fact, the 2CV was
manufactured for 42 years with almost 4 Million units being
produced.
