For Sale: 1966 Pontiac LeMans in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

Here's a 1966 Pontiac LeMans that has been carefully restored into a proper GTO tribute. So you not only have a sleek drop-top in an awesome color combo, but there's also a professional-built smooth and stout 455 under the hood. Yes, it's time to get excited.

Convertibles are some of the rarest classics around, and so it takes extra time and effort to get the right one for this GTO tribute (remember, Ford basically produced more Mustangs within two weeks in 1966 than Pontiac made LeMans convertibles all year!) But what you'll really like is how this one showcases the best of the GTO. After all, we all love a muscle car finished in red. It has a luster-filled application that looks great against the form-fitting bumpers, bright bezels, and full-length rocker trim. And this has all the right high-performance details like the hood scoop, fog lights, badging, and the correct intricate tail panel exclusive to the GTO. Even the redline tires have a terrific look of classic coordination. But you'll love this one for more than just appearance. It has a barn find story where it's believed to be a two-owner vehicle. The second owners are also the ones who initiated the restoration. They couldn't find the LeMans parts they needed, and so this was transformed into a muscle car so that it could also be properly restored.

The creamy white convertible top has a sophisticated look against the sleek and aggressive exterior red. And if you like the way this combo looks, then with the flip of a switch, you'll love powering it down to reveal the full red and white interior. There was a nice investment here, and you can tell by the condition of the seats, carpeting, and door panels. You'll even appreciate the details, like the Fisher body seatbelts and working courtesy lights. Even the Am radio is still cranking out tunes. And while you'll love to show off the interior with pride, it's also set up to be a great driver's machine. That's why you have bucket seats up front with a center console in-between. The wood and chrome steering wheel is now mounted on a tilt column, and that gives you a good view of the round gauge package with large speedo and tach.

People are already going to presume it's a real GTO, so why not make sure you can teach the factory Goats a lesson on the streets? While the turquoise block and shiny valve covers, the callout says you're actually looking at a 455 cubic-inch V8. Remember, that's 14% larger than anything the factory was giving the GTO in '66, and that displacement wouldn't be available in the GTO until 1970. This big powerhouse was part of a full professional build. It includes a four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake, and a sweet-sounding X-pipe dual exhaust. The motor seems to have the right balance of both powerful and smooth, and the same goes for the TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. The suspension was given full attention during the restoration, including a boxed trailing arm and sway bar setup upgrade in the rear. Power steering, power brakes, and front discs, complete this solid driver's package.

The sale comes complete with a restoration photo book and service manuals. This is the sleek and powerful Pontiac package in rare drop-top form that you've been waiting for. So don't let it slip away, call today!
