For Sale: 1979 Chevrolet C10 in Westport, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1979 Chevrolet C-10, Step-side, Short Bed Rat Rod Pick Up

Purchased just a couple of years ago for a Halloween car show, the current owner has enjoyed the truck for pretty much those occasions, simply having fun, not needing to polish and clean everything, just taking care of her, maintaining, oil changes.

He could hop in with a minutes notice and go to any cruise night without a worry and would still have a bunch of folks stopping by to look and comment, talk.

Who in the classic car community doesn't like the look of big meats in the back and smalls up front?

We don't know a lot of history on the truck. The owner remembers the person he bought it from saying it was a nearby municipal truck purchased at auction back in the eighties. The base coat as seen in several photos is definitely orange. The truck came equipped with a 350 V8, cruise control, power steering and power brakes, so it may have been a manager's truck. The 97K miles is probably accurate. The floors have been replaced, the left side rocker has been replaced and reportedly the bed and the front fenders were too, it's also running a new gas tank. If this was indeed a municipal truck here in New England, those items being replaced makes sense. The hood has had some welding done to keep it from the unfortunate bending/buckling somewhat common on these... it may have been too late.

The truck still runs and drives well, still has the 350 however, and it now has an Edelbrock 4 bbl carb and Chevy 4 bbl manifold. The exhaust is routed through the stock Y pipe into a side exit tail pipe. She'd sound and perform a bit better with a dual exhaust to match the added intake.

The V8 sends the power through a 3 speed automatic, probably a TH350 out to a 12 bolt rear end.

The Crager SS mags have BFG Radial T/As in 275/60/15 out back and 215/65/15 up front.

The interior boasts some rather comfy bucket seats of unknown origin, sliding rear window, pop up/removable sunroof and a Coors Tap handle shifter.. among some other skull accoutrements.

Take her as she is and do some other fun stuff to it and enjoy it as a rat rod pick up.. or bring her back to short bed glory and drop her, paint her, etc. Very solid base to start from and the running gear to handle whatever ideas one might have for propulsion.

The owner is moving south and is only taking one classic with him, so this one needs to find a new home.

Asking price to bring her home is $7200 firm.

Thank you for the interest.
