Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1966 Triumph TR4A. Sold
new in Athens, Georgia, this TR4 has been owned by just two Georgia
families since new. The father of the current owner bought it from
the original owner in the 1980s. Finished in red with a white
convertible top and black interior, it presents to a nice driver
standard throughout. Attractive magnesium alloy wheels. Solid and
original underside with no evidence of rust or prior repair.
Interior presents to a well-kept driver standard consistent with
the rest of the car; nice wood dash and upper pad with all gauges,
lights, switches, etc. working as they should. Stock aside from a
modern stereo.
Under the hood is a Standard-Triumph four-cylinder fed by twin
carbs and mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. This
car saw a major mechanical overhaul in 2013 fewer than 1,000 miles
ago - the work included a full engine rebuild plus belts, hoses and
tune-up items, complete brake job (including hydraulics), clutch
hydraulics and more. Additional recent work just this spring
includes a gorgeous stainless steel exhaust header plus a
comprehensive service. This TR4A starts, runs and drives great -
clutch and gearbox feel good with no crunchy synchros and the
overdrive works perfectly. Steering, suspension and brakes likewise
feel dialed in.
This Triumph presents to a nice driver standard cosmetically and is
very well sorted mechanically. We have always considered the TR4 to
be among the best-looking English roadsters from this era, and at
far less cost than an E-Type or Austin-Healey. For more information
