Vehicle Description
1965 Shelby GT350 For Sale - Highly Collectible Early Two Digit
Example LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1965 Shelby GT350
In 1964, Ford enlisted the help of everyone's favorite chicken
farmer, Carroll Shelby, to take the all new Mustang and give it
some racing pedigree. Starting with a K-code fastback delivered
from Ford, he created the 1965 Shelby GT350 which was the perfect
recipe of modifications needed to go racing. The SCCA said in order
for Carroll's cars to be sanctioned, there needed to be 100 built
for homologation. These early cars had some small production
characteristics that made them unique as well including a 16-inch
diameter steering wheel, aluminum hub adapter, trunk-mounted
battery, port-hole fiberglass hood, fiberglass tach and oil
pressure pod, different differential bearings and traction arm
seals. This early "double digit" example was delivered to Shelby's
Venice, California, facility in December of 1964. According to the
Shelby American factory records, this Shelby was shipped new to
Harr Motor Company Inc. and was manufactured with the early
fiberglass porthole hood, trunk mounted battery, Cragar Shelby
wheels and Le Mans stripes. Unlike so many others, it still retains
its matching Hi-Po 289/306hp engine backed by the aluminum case
T-10 4-speed transmission and 9" Detroit Locker rear end. This
example underwent a rotisserie restoration completed by a marque
expert using many original parts. Finished in the prerequisite
Wimbledon White exterior and inside complete with correct with dash
mounted pod with 8,000 rpm tach and oil pressure, factory racing
lap belts, 16" wood rimmed steering wheel and factory radio delete
plate. On a hoist you will discover the undercarriage to be
properly restored with floors finished in the correct factory style
red oxide primer with body color overspray and blacked out pinch
welds. The overall look and unmistakable sound of the car are the
factory side exiting exhaust just in front of the correct Blue Dot
tires mounted on the optional Cragar wheels. Included in the sale
are Shelby American car invoice, Shelby warranty policy form,
Shelby delivery invoice, owner's manuals, SAAC serial number
verification, restoration receipts and ownership history. The 1965
Shelby GT350 is certainly classed in the upper echelon of American
collectable automobiles. The opportunity to acquire an
early-production, highly documented, authentic "two-digit" example
with its numbers matching engine make it extremely rare and worthy
of serious consideration for any collector or enthusiast.
