fans and Mustang enthusiasts should be interested in this GT Coupe
Restomod at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. This car was a recipient of a
five year nut and bolt restoration. Made in Ford?s San Jose,
California factory (VIN Code R), according to the Marti report;
this example was scheduled to be assembled on May 3, 1967, but
wasn?t built until June 14, 1967. It was shipped to the Seattle,
Washington district sales area and was sold on July 8, 1967, at
Marv Tonkin Ford in Portland, Oregon. It left San Jose with the
following options ? white paint stripe, GT equipment group,
four-speed manual transmission, Equa-Lok rear differential, rocker
panel molding, center console, deluxe steering wheel and factory AM
radio. The car is finished in Candy apple Red (code T). It and the
trim are in overall excellent order, the bodywork is straight and
solid, the engine bay and underbody are extremely tidy, the chrome
bumpers fit tightly to the body and look great. The car has new
fuel and brake lines. This Pony rolls on BFGoodrich Radial T/As,
size 235/60R15 at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a gray
American Racing five-spoke alloy wheel. The wheels and tires are
all in very good order. New Ron Morris front coilovers are part of
the deal, too. Since leaving the factory all those decades ago, the
original engine and transmission have been rebuilt with a high
performance 302 CID Ford Racing V-8 with full competition cam
rollers, Dura Spark II electronic ignition, a Champion radiator and
a Painless harness. Mated to the motor is a Borg-Warner T-5
five-speed manual transmission with a 3.50:1 rear end with
Traction-Lok. Driver convenience features include classic
air-conditioning, power windows, power brakes, tilt steering column
and steering that?s converted to rack-and-pinion with power assist.
Being a late 67 model, the 67 date coded motor was that of a 302
rather a 289 as told by the previous owner. It had 289 internals
that were upgraded as stated above. Inside, the car?s red vinyl
interior (code 2D) is in overall very good order. The front buckets
and rear bench are in very good order, as is the matching carpet
and headliner. There?s a rimblow, wood-rimmed three-spoke steering
wheel with Ididit tilt steering column. The red instrument panel
and inner door panels are in similar shape. The center console and
console mounted shifter look great. A Custom Sound retro AM/FM
stereo completes the interior. The 1967 model year Mustang was the
first significant redesign of the original model. Ford?s designers
began drawing up a larger version even as the original was
achieving sales success. The major mechanical feature was to allow
the installation of a big-block V-8 engine. The overall size,
interior and cargo space were increased. Exterior trim changes
included concave taillights, side scoop. Ponycar competition to
this Mustang in 1967 had increased ? Chevrolet?s new-for-?67
Camaro, Mercury?s new-for-?67 Cougar, Plymouth?s Barracuda and
Pontiac?s new-for-?67 Firebird. This Mustang is one of: ? 37,036
copies with this paint code ? 12,404 with these paint and trim
codes ? 3,383 with these engine and transmission codes ? 8,185
ordered from this DSO ? 6,545 with GT Equipment group If you?re
after a classic Mustang, this GT restomod should fill the bill on
many levels. It?ll cruise on the highway all day, it would be a
conversation piece at most any local car show or cruise night and
attract attention at traffic lights. Again, to high light the list
of upgrades and attention to detail are as follows: ? Holly 6140
