Vehicle Description
This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula is fantastically original from
the unique paint package to the big 6.6 V8 under the hood. There's
even an impressive paperwork file that reminds you why this year
was so significant. So it's amazing that a survivor this
extraordinary can also be so affordable.
Cameo White is a terrific performance Pontiac color. What's
particularly notable is that this shows all the right signs of
being the original factory application. And it retains an
impressive gloss and shine for a finish that has passed the
forty-year mark. We love the Firebirds from this generation because
they loved to give you a terrific total paint package right from
the factory. So this Formula has a stylish gray lower section, and
there's a triple-blue stripe to give it a proper dividing line. And
while this is a comprehensive and detailed color package, you'll
also love this because a Formula has a terrific speedy style. You
get aggressive pieces like the dual hood scoops, quad exhaust tips,
and full-width rear spoiler. And the upgrade to iconic Cragar SS
polished wheels just seems right on such a cool classic like this
(but purists will be happy that the stock wheels come with the
sale, too.)
The tones of blue inside go great with the gray and blue of the
outside to make for a cohesive full package. It's highly original,
and it all looks well-respected - right down to Pontiac's hobnail
cloth pattern upholstery. So while it's unknown if the odometer
reflects the full actual mileage, the whole atmosphere feels like
this coupe has been properly appreciated. This is a true driver's
machine with the classic T/A steering wheel, console-mounted
shifter, high-back bucket seats, and all the gauges set in the
sporty machine-turned panel. While this does have a terrific
survivor style, it's also a Firebird, and so you know it's a
classic you want to drive. That's why you have great factory
features like power windows, a tilt steering column, and cruise
control. And they are joined by worthwhile upgrades like an
AM/FM/CD stereo with upgraded speakers and Bluetooth, and the
factory air conditioning is now blowing cold with modern R134a
refrigerant.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching L80 6.6-liter V8. It has a
very honest appearance, right down to the correct factory decals.
This stock style is very important here because Pontiac fans know
that 1979 was the last year of the big motor machines. This V8
fires up with confidence, so you'll love taking it out on the road.
In fact, this is the era of great driving Firebirds. So you get
features like power steering, a three-speed automatic transmission,
power brakes, front discs, and a sway bar in the rear.
The sale comes complete with the original windows sticker, bill of
sale, owner's manual, and plenty of other paperwork to document
this last of the big motor survivors. This is a distinct and
powerful time capsule that's also fun to drive today. So at a price
like this, you know you need to hurry if you want to take it home.
