1957 Ford Fairlane 500
VIN: D7PV115708
Post World War II Ford cars were known for their tall and imposing stance up through the early 1950s and the "Shoebox" Fords. The next generation of Ford cars, including the popular Crown Victoria line were highly regarded and remain a popular collector car.
The mainstream Ford line of cars grew substantially larger for 1957, and the new chassis allowed the floor to be placed much lower. This, in turn, led to a lower and longer look overall. The 1957 models were unmistakable with their long flanks and tailfins and the Fairlane 500 became the Top-Line car in the Ford Passenger car offerings.
The 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 presented at auction underwent a body restoration in the early 2000s and shows consistent with the car being enjoyed as a driver. Under current ownership since 2014, the car received extensive chassis work to include brakes steering, suspension and more. The result is a more reliable car when enjoying the car on the road. The car features the following:
- 292 V8, 212 Hoorsepower
- New Holly 650cfm 4bbl carburetor
- Automatic Transmission
- Power Windows
- Beautiful 4 Door Hardtop
- Lights refurbished to working order
- "Poor Mans Anti-theft" kill switch
The seller does report that the electric windows operate off of a toggle switch under the dash and the radio does not currently work. The car will only start in neutral and while the engine does not overheat, the temperature gauge may need attention.
The car is a good quality driver. The 4 Door Hardtop will provide the legendary 1950s motoring experience and will be enjoyed for many years into the future.
