Vehicle Description
STK 2992 1969 Chevrolet Corvette
This 3-owner 1969 Corvette 'Stingray' roadster is said to be
matching numbers through out. Except for a repaint 30+ years ago
and some engine/suspension upgrades, it is original. It is not a
show car, but a very solid driver. The owner believes that the
roadster has never been in a fight - all of the gaps are true and
all of the body components appear to be original. The frame and
birdcage are excellent. The current owner, a senior, has had this
car for over 25 years (garaged). The single-stage Fathom Green
repaint (1988) is starting to show dulling on hood and trunk. The
black leather interior is in good condition - dash and door cards
are very good, all gauges (excp. clock) work including the
mechanical tach and the factory AM/FM radio still plays.
Headlight/wiper vacuum features work fine using the manual pulls.
The canvas top is 'original 1969' and needs replaced, as do the
rubber seals. The folding top frame is fine and rust-free. Under
the hood, the owner states is the factory 350 /300hp that has been
massaged, but runs fine on unleaded 93 octane. It was
professionally built some 20,000 miles ago - bored .030 over, 10:1
pistons, 3-angle valve grind w/hardened valve seats, Schneider
hydraulic flat tappet cam (350/350hp specs), Edelbrock Performer
dual plane intake, 600CFM Holley and Hedman tube headers. (Included
in the sale are original engine components including the intake
manifold, Rochester QuadraJet carb and rams-horn exhaust
manifolds.) The distributor is the factory points/condenser unit
w/gear-drive tach. This is a nice, old-school small-block that is
right. The motor is backed by the factory 4-speed wide-ratio trans
w/Muncie shifter and stock 3.23:1 posi-traction differential.
Clutch is very smooth and all u-joints have been replaced. The
transmission and differential have been serviced, but have not
required any repairs other than a trans rear seal a few years back.
The Corvette has power steering and manual disc brakes. All brake
calipers are stainless sleeved with new hoses/master cylinder and
the suspension/sway bars have polyurethane bushings. Independent
rear suspension has been upgraded with a new transverse steel leaf
spring, new sway bar and camber-adjustable tie rods. New 225x70x15
Firestone Destination LE3 radials (very similar in appearance to
the original F70x15 Firestone Wide-Ovals) are mounted on factory
15"x 8" GM Rally wheels with GM centers and after-market trim
rings. You can buy a much newer 'Vette for the same money. It will
however be worth less next year unlike this '69 4-speed Stingray
roadster. If you are looking for a trailer queen, look elsewhere.
If you want a classic C3 roadster that runs, come take a look - you
will not be disappointed. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
