For Porsche to race in FIA Group 4 competition, their racecar had
to be homologated as a production model and thus the 911 Turbo was
born in 1975, known internally as the 930 Turbo. The first 400
units qualified Porsche to go racing with these cars. The original
Turbo, known as the Turbo Carrera, was initially fitted with a 3.0
Liter flat six-cylinder turbo engine producing 260bhp. For 1978,
Porsche revised the 930 with a larger 3.3 Liter turbo engine rated
at 300bhp. Porsche also revised the large rear spoiler as well
officially naming the car 911 Turbo worldwide. With U.S. emissions
restrictions tightening in 1980, 1979 became the last model year
that the 930 was specified for the American market until 1986.
The power output is from a 3.3 liter, Flat 6-cylinder engine
believed to be producing around 330 bhp and 315 lb. ft. of torque
with the given modifications. Performance is 0-60 mph in under 5
seconds with a top speed of 162 mph.
Originally being delivered in Ontario, Canada, this 911 Turbo has
been in the United States under collector ownerships in
since 2004. The most recent collector was a GM Company Executive
who tastefully modified the car with retrofitted LED headlights,
lowered to Euro-Spec, B&B Headers, Aftermarket 930S Style
Steering Wheel, Porsche Classic Radio w/ Sirus XM, 1.0 Bar
Wastegate Spring.
This 930 is complete with factory books, tools, jack, full
ownership and service history. Excellent in every way, this 930
Turbo will not disappoint.
